gusmahler's recent music quizzes have inspired me to finally create my own. gus is not going to post the next game in his series just yet, so I'm going to jump in with my game, which has a twist - these songs are all mashups. If you don't know what a mashup is, it's basically a song created by blending two or more different songs together, usually by overlaying the vocal track from one song with the instrumental track from another.

There are 21 music clips in these two files:

For the first 20 clips, you need to identify the two artists and two songs for each mashup. For number 21, you need to identify three artists and three songs. Note that I'm not interested in the name of the person who did the mashing or the name of the mashup itself, I only want you to identify the artists and songs in the mashup.

Submit your answers like this:

1. Song Name - Arist Name; Other Song Name - Other Artist Name
2. Song Name - Arist Name; Other Song Name - Other Artist Name
3. Song Name - Arist Name; Other Song Name - Other Artist Name
etc.

The order of your answers for each clip is not important.

You will receive 1 point for each correct artist and 1 point for each correct song. If you get all 4 (or all 6 for clip 21) then you'll get a bonus point.

Unlike gus's quizzes, there is NO RESEARCH of any kind allowed for this quiz.

You should know that some of the bands appear more than once, and one song appears twice. Some of these are pretty hard and some will be really easy (like when the lyrics in the clip include the title of the song).

For clip 03, you do not need to identify the weird sample from 8 to 12 seconds in. For track 17, you do not need to identify the "sensimilla" sample.

Please do not post in this thread how you think you did or how many you identified as history has shown that can discourage participation.

ha ha, no, these are actually good mashups.

Can you give some info on how old/new the songs can be?

These are great. I can't wait to hear the full song on some of them. Also, one of my all time favorite songs is on here. Awesome quiz.

After having listened, I don't think I'll be giving anything away by saying they can be very old and pretty new and somewhere in between.

Yes, there is a wide variety of ages of songs. The oldest I think is from 1959 and the most recent is from last year.

Sorry, I made this the rule because in gus's games you can Google lyrics if you know them, but that would make this too easy since there are lyrics in every clip.

If you want, you can resubmit with just the answers you knew before researching.
