American, freelance writer (so decent vocab), turned 53 today.

Sports clues are usually great, older pop culture/music/movies, too (anything in the last decade, not so much). Financial stuff also good (occupational hazard).

Obscure clues -- sure, hit me up, I might know it.

Oh, and my son plays MtG (just cashed in a tournament this weekend), but I don't really know **** about it.

~30, from the UK, european football, tennis, golf, cricket all good, NFL from the last 10-15 years also good, not other US sports. music is just about ok but not super strong, films probably best avoided where possible (but always worth an obscure reference occasionally if it'll lead to the word with minimal extra help)

Proper nouns are fine, as long as they are one unhyphenated word.

Numerical numbers are fine (like 3.14) and dates (2020/02/10) and times (21:17, but not 9:17 pm). Just be careful, I will dupe fairly hard on those.

I'm 48, live in South Florida, and will do pretty well on most pop culture and sports clues.

Also, I've been doing a Hello Internet (podcast) deep dive. Renewed thanks to the submission from the Podcast Walrus I ran a few months ago (was it xander?). Anyhow, they were talking about how only Americans (from the USA, that is) introduce themselves as "Bolt from Florida" whereas the rest of the world introduces themselves as "Joe from Canada" rather than "Joe from Calgary" or "Joe from Alberta".

In for a different role where you send me just one clue per word each round: the clue most given by the players, and I try to guess the words just from the one popular clue

Otherwise first sub if needed
