fwiw there's already plenty of subjectivity in the forum rules

but yes there's a concern with being TOO subjective.

There is a difference between subjective use of power and arbitrary use of power.

- offenses expire in something on the order of 3 months, when they expire, they are removed
- For the majority of game related rules violations, like getting modkilled for night posting, step 1 = warning, 2 = infraction, 3 = timeout from werewolf games (maybe a week?), 4= temp ban
- Players or game mods report things they think need addressed using the report post button or a PM, or if we see something we can do it that way
- Discussion about infractions is allowed in the thread, but I think I would create a new thread periodically to avoid having 10000 old posts of people complaining, and discussion is for a limited time, and needs to be kept civil. If anything my tolerance for nastiness in the infraction thread would be lower then in other contexts. Argue, but argue civilly

The main purposes of the thread are:
- To make clear that there are consequences to bad behavior, people can see the thread and read it, and those who violate rules see consequences and can predict in advance what consequences are likely to be

- As a resource for game mods. Game mods are free to make their own decisions about who is allowed in their games. I don't believe mods should exclude people just because they did something wrong once, and if it got ugly we'd want to address this, but in general I have no issue with mods excluding players they see as being deleterious to their games. Most of the time, I imagine I'll disagree with the decision because I everyone and all that, but it's their game

- So that forum mods are more involved in helping to referee werewolf related disputes, hopefully if this is done well it makes things nicer all around. Or, if it sucks really bad, you can all come after me with pitchforks and torches and we can reconsider. I think either is better than just having a random 5000 post thread about werewolf every couple months

I am not really sure how the idea of community voting on things fits with this and I'm not all that comfortable with that aspect of what's been discussed. Perhaps voting can be exercised mostly with the report button post. If anything my view is that the democratic part of this process is mostly in that I'm very willing to reconsider my opinions about what should be done based on feedback I get from players and game mods, and I don't believe my first opinion is automatically right. Beyond that, if anyone strongly thinks the community voting aspect is required, we can talk about it, but I'm a little skeptical of what purpose it serves.

Also of course I have to discuss this with the other mods, so I'm jumping the gun a bit here, but my intent is that whatever we do shouldn't just be what we think is best, discussed off in mod-land with no pogger input, so I feel it's OK to just continue this here, except now you know there's a slightly higher chance that what I think is a good idea is what will actually happen
This is an awesome post. Well-deserved congrats to well named and TimeLady.

I'd rather just have long games in it

I can't really articulate why, I just think it's a good idea.

I like the idea of a ww subforum.

That may be why it originally started, but I think POG has probably changed enough over time for it to warrant discussion. I'm not gonna push hard for it to happen or anything, but I do think it's a good idea.

I know for me at least, all those ww threads were a big turnoff for me ever venturing into POG.

This thread is full of bad ideas today.

WW subforum is probably the worst of them.
04-05-2012 , 10:10 PM
+1 on the subforum idea
04-05-2012 , 10:12 PM
what does it feel like when they do it?

does it tingle?

yeah i mean you put WW in a sub and what's left? would almost be better to put everything else in a sub, if anything.

plus i think TPTB are anti-subs anyway, but i could be wrong...
