d. baryons

I screwed up here. The answer I was looking for was baryons, since they include neutrons and protons and therefore make up > 99.99% of ordinary matter, but to make that the only correct answer, I needed to not have protons as an option or be more specific about "vast majority" since the composition of ordinary matter throughout the universe is thought to reflect the composition of our sun which is around 85% protons. But even doing that would have been very unfeynman of me since knowing that matter is overwhelmingly hydrogen is more important than knowing what the word baryon means. I marked b and d as correct here.

aw dang! i missed this!

i'll just play along at home.

for number 4 if your head or feet move faster through time it obviously depends if you standing on top of the earth or on the bottom

actually i think it would depend if you were standing on one of the polls or the equator

This is just trivia and therefore probably not a great question. Iron has the densest and most stable nucleus of any element but I don't know how anyone would guess that other than being familiar with binding energy per nucleon charts.

how about this, does building a large skyscraper slow the rotation of the earth?

d. .0005N

This question was looking for Newton's 3rd law (if A exerts force F on B, then B exerts force -F on A). The weight of your head is the same as the force that your head exerts on the earth.

in principle, yes

directing mass outwards (upwards) increases the rotational inertia

4. When standing upright, is time faster for your feet or your head?

a. feet
b. head
c. neither
d. impossible to say

This question was looking for knowledge that gravity slows time.

This one is counterintuitive and pretty interesting. It's similar to the question of where the mass of a tree (or any plant) comes from.

We get our energy and nutrients from the plants and animals we consume. That metabolism depends on breathing in O2 and breathing out CO2. When we lose weight, it's from the carbon exiting our bodies through our lungs.

As I was doing number 4 I knew I was going to convince myself backwards after thinking about interstellar and I did. Lost the flip on iron gold.

The last one I may have vaguely known from an eli5 on reddit asking why we weight less in the morning than at night.

Wouldnt most of the force your head exerts on the earth being you holding it upright with muscles etc, not gravitational force.

when you're standing up, the only force your head is exerting on the earth is gravitational

your feet are exerting the weight of your whole body on the floor via electromagnetism

Thanks for running. Happy with my 3, i think lungs threw me for a loop thinking breathing doesn't push anything out through the lungs, it just uses them.

And yes, I think most of my issues in life can be explained by the force my head exerts on my neck

On behalf of the zeroes, thanks for not putting up our score. I'm a little disappointed that I predicted it -- hoped I might stumble into at least one correct answer.

Thanks for running, ST, and congrats to the winnars.
