The Swisher auction is very amusing to me.

Unofficial co-mod ruling would be that it stands. You have 24 hrs to make a bid on a player. That was...24 hrs.

I am pretty sure that thread was locked temporarily after mets' last bid. My thought was that it was reviewed and deemed a legal bid, but I dunno.

technically there is a 50% chance without seeing second markers that it was made within 24 hours.

Indeed, and prospects and remaining draft picks. I wouldn't mind a trade that left me with more cash right now.

I can find no way of establishing post times more accurately. If anyone happens to be a Proboards guru and knows of a way of doing so, let me know and I'm happy to check. Without that, I'm going to allow the bid to stand, and I will add a clarification to the rules for future reference.

I wanna trade Miggy Cabrera ($50).

I was happy to get him for $50 but I think I could use the money better in retrospect.

Just so that you are all aware, if you are all trying to move on the big contracts, you can offer to pay some salary as part of a trade.

You can also waive players as well, although you would still be responsible for their salary unless and until someone else chooses to pick them up.

Following on from my last post, I have chosen to waive Mark Teixeira ($36). Anyone who wants can now claim him, according to the rules set out in section 7 of the official rules.

so is it first come first serve on his contract? If no one takes him, is he still eligible for the auction?

edit: I should read the rules before asking these things

If nobody takes him, I'm stuck with him, and will obviously pull him back off waivers before the season starts. In the next 48 hours, people can claim him by posting in the thread on Proboards. If more than one person claims, then whoever has the highest waiver priority gets him, and takes on responsibility for his salary. That person will then go to the bottom of the waiver priority list. After 48 hours has passed, anyone can claim him by posting a new thread in the transactions section of Proboards. This does not cost them their waiver priority At any time I can choose to pull him back off waivers.

This is crazy that we're waiving people already.

I waive everyone but Strasburg. Where do I post that?

Can we dangle people on waivers, like put them there and then take them back before we lose them to FA if no one bites? Isn't that what they do in the pros?

I'll take Butler if you pay $4 of his salary.

omg just found out about this thread! So far, I'm loving this league.

I think you guys are a bit too worried about money spent. I did an "ideal" team for me before the draft with $values on certain players. I can still theoretically have $12-16 free at the end and look who I have so far...I've definitely spent money in this auction.
