Dizzy's Turbo Walrus: Radiohead Edition Dizzy's Turbo Walrus: Radiohead Edition

As I mentioned I chose Lift because I thought it is one of their most traditionally structured songs and probably one of the easiest for a newb to get their arms around.

Interestingly it was never released on a proper album in spite of it being one of their best songs

have you agreed with all of my rankings so far? If so - interested to see if that stays consistent as I close it out.

Would be pretty interesting if 2 people who had never heard the band but were from much different generations felt similarly about the submitted songs.

Maybe I would switch a couple here or there, but it sounds like you might do that, also. In general, we have them in the same track.

Our biggest disagreements will probably come at the ends.

This was a interesting "game theory" submission by [redacted], and I loved his comment when submitting:

Here you go. This is by far their most famous and best song, so I'm sure all the Radiohead fanbois will be too cool to submit it.
Well, he was right and successfully faded the duplicate DQ. On to the song, man this one was close - just barely missing the podium. I went back and forth on it.

FINALLY we get some heaver sounding guitar/music which I like a lot. On the other hand the non-chorus parts just don't do it for me...and even parts of the chorus are mono-tone.

Overall there are more good parts than bad. I again got a really strong Muse connection at the part on/around 2:30.

Yeah a lot of these are close. I wouldn't really argue with swapping two that were ranked together in any spots.

This almost makes me tempted to listen to my song, but that might ruin the sweat.

When I proposed the ICM chop I didnt realize there was a nodium...

I still love my pick, but then it's likely that the 3 nodium songs are great too.

I'm sweating here.

in 9th place:

This song and Fake Plastic Trees were pretty comparable. I get why people like the song - I think the vocals are pretty good...but it is just boring and repetitive and not really for me. I don't even necessarily mind repetitive music.. but I like when it at least changes pace or is more up beat and this song just doesn't do that.

Again, Dizzy is spot on. I guess he can sing, after all. Definitely the best, so far.

Side note - if you'd ever heard a Radiohead song without realizing who the band was, odds are the song was Creep.

Yeah I learned from this thay it’s their most famous song. Still pretty sure I hadn’t ever heard it - or at least didn’t remember

I listened to the live version.

I would put this one at least a couple of places higher, maybe even 5th.

The playing was good, and the airy vocals fit, this time. I see what Dizzy says about, monotonous, but it's not discordant. This one is okay.

In 3rd place:

Finally we have a more upbeat song! This is much more my normal speed and I enjoyed this one. The beginning is quick and controlled - and then by the end they are finally starting to let loose. Another common theme I've seen with these Radiohead songs is that they often start slow and end their songs very strong.

love the vocals at ~2:20

This feels like the right place for this song. A better groove than the rest. One problem I have (with all their songs, possibly), is that I don't like the sound coming from one of the guitars, like it is tuned wrong for my ears, or they don't have the right strings. That goes away as the sound is swept into the mix. A good song, though.
