I think sometimes pointing out a very obvious clue can be helpful. Like when you pointed out file + nail would be manicure. But it's not something to over rely on or get carried away with

all animals that could theoretically be preserved in one way or another. I don't think insect mounts count as taxidermy, but not super confident in that.

head and model for sure, then maybe take some guesses at the animals

platypus and cat seem like the most likely fits to me, but it could be other stuff

I like cat/platypus/model/head the best, probably in that order. Is head really a lock? I sort of overlooked it at first glance until you mentioned it. I was thinking more of full body preservation, but I guess stuff like moose head mounts are pretty common. Probably kiwi next if one of those are wrong.
