neither of these are movies and so they shouldn't get grouped either?

I'm going to stick with my grouping because it's been the only one to ever be referred to as "Lord of the Rings". When it first came out people would say "Have you seen Lord of the Rings?" or "What did you think of Lord of the Rings?"

I can see the viewpoint of people who would not group this, but I'm gonna stick with my decision all the same

Xander better watch out - I've resorted to running games where the only correct answers are A or B to avoid controversy & nominations for dodgy mod decision. Might get nominated for a clearly correct ruling if he's not careful.
