I think Nich is pretty squarely in Gen X, and The Goonies is like one of the defining pictures of that generation.

Is this why? Seems like a big leap. The clue isn’t movie, it’s Goonies. So, words having to do with Goonies or specifically referring to another movie title are direct connections.

I’m fine with spy. Both spy movies and Goonies involve mystery/intrigue, and there are plenty of famous movies with the word spy in the title.

Plane can connect to a movie title (snakes on a plane, airplane, etc.,), but that’s thinner than spy imo.

I'm specifically referring to the fact that movies traditionally are shown ON planes, these days on a screen right in front of your seat, but traditionally they'd have a whole projector set up.

That’s nothing like what we’re talking about. Science words relate to Pasteur because he’s a scientist. Plane relates to Goonies because it’s a movie and some airplanes show movies? Again, the clue isn’t movie. It’s Goonies. The connection you’re making is multi-step. If the word was movie, then it’d be an easier sell.
