We currently have more than 100 people from all the different communities spectating these games. It is a ton of fun and in season 1 it even led to a bunch of crossover games between communities, so even if you're not that interested in actually discussing the games, it may be a great chance to do some networking. This whole thing is really mostly about building a cross-community bond, so please pop in and say hi.

Note that the spectator chat will NOT be spoiled.

GAME SUMMARY

As the game progresses, a summary of game events by day and night cycle will be provided here.

Day 1

• The mafia (Lissa2 and nolemonplease) concedes - the town wins!

RULES

• Only post / talk about the game in this thread. Don't PM other players. Don't post anything about the game in other threads or on other forums. Except for the mafia team. The mafia team can communicate with each other privately during the night phase and only the night phase.
• Don't edit your posts. The idea is everybody gets to see the same information in the thread. You are allowed to link to images, videos, etc., but don't change them. Again, everybody gets the same information in the thread.
• Don't try to use the form of your role PM. So a screenshot of your role PM would be cheating. As would discussing the time stamp of your PM.
• When the thread is open and the moderator has announced DAY you can post in it. But only as long as you are a live player. No dead posts, please.
• Vote by bolding a name. I repeat: You vote by simply bolding a player's name - no need for "Vote: X" or anything like that. To change votes just bold a different name, or unvote. Vote counts will show how much time remains in the day. Votes in the final minute (:00) of day will count. :01 votes won't be counted.
• Breadcrumbing is allowed. Unbreakable codes or code links + private keys or any stuff resembling that is NOT allowed. So as an example, this is disallowed.
• This is a game of lying. Players are expected to lie. No statement or promise a player makes within the game has any force outside the game. As an example, a bet offered in a game is not something you can collect if you win.
• If we believe you to be intentionally angleshooting (bending the rules intentionally in a way that clearly goes against the spirit of the rule and the game), then that would also be grounds for modkill. Do not try to get fancy or angly with the rules, please.
• Changing your avatar or your location AFTER having received your role PM is NOT allowed.
• If you have any questions about rules, send a PM to this account. I'd be happy to help. You should not be asking the mod questions in the thread and neither should you ever refer to private communications with the mod.
• No hydra'ing / multi-accounting is allowed. Do not share your account with anyone else.

Lynch rules

• There is no majority lynch in this game except for at lylo (called must lynch on this site) for the sake of being able to keep the same schedule throughout the game. Whoever has the most votes at deadline will be lynched. Tie votes are explained below.
• At lylo these rules will be in effect: Votes will be LOCKED IN. There will be no unvoting or vote changing, so make sure to vote wisely! Day ends immediately once majority is reached - do not post once this happens even if the mod isn't around to call it.
• No lynch is allowed.

Tie votes

In the event of a tie vote, there will be a sort of "coin flip" to determine the outcome. Specifically, post ID will be the determining factor (which guarantees a fair "flip"). Click here for an in depth explanation.

GAME SCHEDULE

Day 1 will begin on Monday, May 11 at 8:00 AM EST, and night will fall on Tuesday, May 12 at 8:00 PM EST.

Day 2 will begin on Wednesday, May 13 at 8:00 AM EST, and night will fall on Thursday, May 14 at 8:00 PM EST.

Day 3 will begin on Friday, May 15 at 8:00 AM EST, and night will fall on Sunday, May 17 at 8:00 PM EST.

The schedule will follow that Tuesday / Thursday / Sunday nightfall schedule for the entire game.

{Makaze} has created an incredible extension for the twoplustwo search function. It will expand search results to show the entire post, rather than snippets of each post.

So how do you read a single player / pull up an iso? Here are 2 ways to do it.

From the forum page, click the number next to the thread title (488 here). This brings up a window called "Who Posted". From there click the number next to a poster to see their posts in the search page.



OR From within the thread, click search this thread at the top, then advanced search.



This brings up a window where you can enter a poster name and / or keywords.



Here is a sample search result. Click the title within a post to go to that post.



Use my twoplustwo / Edit Options to change the look & feel of the forum.



There you may want to make yourself invisible. This means your name doesn't appear at the bottom of the forum page while you are reading. Almost all the regular players here use invisible.



Change your posts/page from the default 15 to a number that suits you.



Tell the forum your timezone.



Maybe try different colors.



Don't forget to click Save Changes.

Gnawazan is known as Gnaw on the Malazan Empire forum. While I could tell you a great many things about Gnaw, I would have to admit that most of them would be either deliberately false (this is a competition, after all) or claims made in ignorance (we do play on a forum, after all).

Instead, it is the Fener avatar/alt I want to talk you about.

You see, Fener is our most jinxed alt, and all of us groan inwardly when we see it popping up in our mailboxes as our designated alt. This is for a multitude of reasons.
The first reason is that you'll have to weather a storm of good natured abuse. You see, unlike most of the forum's early game alts, which are Dragons, Fener is a boar. A boar god, but still: a boar. This made his avatar an obvious odd one out from the usual alts and opens the door for a host of extremely obvious pig & swine jokes.

And if that's not enough, it is also the alt that is traditionally lynched when there's no obvious choice to run a train on.
Invariably, Fener comes up as town. Invariably, the game mod knows that there's a 59.1% chance of Fener being lynched day 1, and refuses to add an important role to the alt.
As a result, Fener is the alt that gets in the way of an exciting game.

With regards of the Mafia Championship, the choice for the Fener avatar ought to be seen as an acceptance of impending doom and a perfect (if slightly fatalistic) banner to represent Malazan Mafia with. Also Gnaw is a bit of a pig.

My first mafia game ever was a live game in 2004. I then went 8 years before I started playing forum mafia games at DraftCountdown.com. My first game, I broke the rules about quoting my PM. Hey, I didn't know what I was doing and I didn't want to be lynched. Since then, I've gotten better. I've played over 50 games with varying themes and set ups. I've even moderated two large games (The O.C and American Revolution themes) as well as a few mini-mafia games.

I have a bit of an off the wall style. I love to throw things out there, get people talking, and try to get people to take stands. My biggest pet peeve is watching people avoid suspicion by laying low while the vocal players fight each other.

A little about me. I'm 28, married, with two dogs and two cats. I like Chicago sports (UNF and UCF for college sports), food, professional wrestling, and reading.

Hello, I am a frivolous person!!!

I've been playing TWG for a bit more than 6 years now. I started out on LLF and later ventured out to other communities; NSM and FFR in particular. I'm generally reserved in my playstyle, tending to make bigger posts than most people, though I've grown accustomed to the rapid posting style familiar to most no out-of-thread-talk forums.

I often try to balance out the probability of a Wolf performing an action with that of a Human (not quantitatively though, I'm not that intense!) when searching for Wolves. For this reason, I never feel 100% certain in my opinions, though I may feign so in order to push for something or instigate a particular response from Players.

The Werewolf Game >> Mafia btw

Uhh, my favorite Role is the Fool. I dislike playing as Special Roles, preferring to play as a normal Human and having less to worry about so that I can focus more on finding Wolves. Speaking of which, I find Wolf Roles to be fun and invigorating.

i've played mafia on and off for several years (irl or on very casual forums that were not primarily for mafia) until i joined tmf a year and a half ago, so do not be fooled by the "started playing in" date because i'm not actually good at this game. my impression of my own play is that i am relatively weaker in the early game because i second guess myself too often on gut feels but i improve once there is more content to work with. i generally don't have any kind of goals that i work towards or specific things that i look for when i play, i just **** around and sometimes i manage to catch scum

Its purpose was to teach the lost art of aerial combat and to insure that the handful of men who graduated were the best fighter pilots in the world. They succeeded. During the course, you'll learn to push your aircraft to the edge of the envelope - faster than you've ever flown before. At the end of course, those of you who have acquired enough points will graduate. On top of that, the name of the top pilot and his R.I.O. from each class is put on the plaque on the wall, and he has the opportunity to return as a Top Gun instructor.

So(ah) it looks like we finally have a game on our hands.

I've been waiting for this to start for ages.

Evidently I'm the only one here.

For the record I'm from an Australian timezone, and I'm generally here for an hour or two after SoD and an hour or two before eod and will be around for a while for the bit inbetween.

If you want to look at my scum/town games on my home forum you'd probably find a different player and not only in name. 2+2 changed my playstyle up a lot and I'm a lot more spammier than I used to be. Especially when I rand villager. Check the database for my games here if you want to get a clue.

You guys don't know how excited I've been for this game. Well those in the chat do.

I've not played a vanilla 2+2 game before (I come from a generally copless site). So this is my first real foray into the THRILLER IN VANILLA.

Alright - thoughts on my entry. No time to think, just post.

Nooo, not spruce. He's probably my new favorite person at the moment.

I haven't understood 75% of the things he's said, though he is somewhat endearing.

Anyway, thoughts on my opening stat. I like fluff as much as the next person but playing the game is where the real fun lies.

Damn. 15 minutes in, I thought the game didn't start until 8:30, and my first post was already eaten by the machine.

Not an entry read type player, but since you asked, a lot of alignment neutral posts in my opinion. Your post above this one has a slight overconfident town tone, I think, but I haven't really seen you enough yet for a solid feel on a tone read.
