I was fully intending to run one soon that trolled this exact statement. Would be fantastic if Tithayer beat me to the punch.

Oh wow. I bet it's that. Probably should be focusing on kayakers.

Kayak isn't able to be a team sport is it? Like equestrian or something can be. Just the fact that he gave this hint like this, seems like it might not have been any of the sports that we had left:

Kayaking can be a team sport.

Haven't gone through those wikis above, but the guy isn't German, so you can get rid of those ones.

Almost every sport can be a team sport. Op clarified this. Can still be kayaking

There's actually not that many options. The full exhaustive list (might have mistakes but meh):

Archery -

Wietse van Alten
Magnus Petersson

Canoes -

Juraj Minčík
Petar Merkov
Patrice Estanguet
Andraž Vehovar
Slavomír Kňazovický
György Zala
Martin Marinov
Sylvain Curinier
György Zala
Piotr Markiewicz

My bet would be Martin Marinov, who was Mr Bulgaria. Petar Merkov had a drugs conspiracy so could be possible. Honestly the rest are just random names with nothing notable at all.

You did the job right, he's in the list

Man, they all seem completely random tbh. Let's just finish this thing.

Is it Martin Marinov or Petar Merkov?

Actually, cancel that question. It can't be Marinov because he won an Olympic bronze for pairs.

Markiewicz, Mincik and Zala all have World Championship gold medals, so my bet would be on it being one of them. Markiewicz got a Cross of Merit for his sporting achievements, so I'd probably lean slightly in his favour.

I'll let someone else finish it off.

Maybe a last extra hint helps you: I first wanted to choose somebody else, but thought he would be way to easy to get so...
