Unique yes, but it doesn't mean it's confined to a single area. McDonald's was a poor example. Maybe more like the Rocky Mountains. A mountain range could fall under "place," but is so spread out that attempting to narrow down an exact location would be futile. Unless filthy would regard a mountain range as a "thing" rather than a "place."

I'm with you here. I just meant Rocky Mountains is unique, but mountain range is not.

Also wouldn't consider McDonalds unique.
