I guess those and Greek would be the most likely at this point?

The combination of 9 & 11 is puzzling me.

And between German, Russian, and Greek, taking #9 into account makes this like 99% German imo.

Is that sure enough to not use a question to make it 100%?

Trying to think of and find hymns that are also in operas. “Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott” (A Mighty Fortress Is Our God) is sung in Meyerbeer’s opera “Les Huguenots.”

A good point, but when I asked the question I was thinking about a performer (which is what I should have said), and I suspect he took it that way (as it is what is usually meant).

"Bridal Chorus" from Lohengrin would work if not for the Wagner denial. Maybe another song along those lines. I don't think Mendelssohn's "Wedding March" has lyrics.

There are Christmas themed operas, particularly in German and Russian. Maybe some of the songs would be sung in church. I haven't found anything yet.

Also isn’t in an opera. But good thinking on weddings, I was limiting myself to sacred music because of #11.

Thoughts about Ein feste Burg?

Bach didn’t write any operas, but wondering if any of his songs from cantatas make it into any operas. Could fit Christmas theme.

Should we ask whether it’s sacred music? What about if the opera’s composer wrote the song? Could still go ahead and nail down the language if you guys think it’s worth it.

Not loving how this question was answered. Reads like this song is in multiple operas, which has me completely lost.

The opera thing could be a serious red herring. Might be worth locking down the language and if it’s a Christmas song or hymn.

It could just relate to translations, or rewrites. There's at least one Russian opera that exists as an original and a rewrite.

It's much more likely for a German song to be in the zeitgeist than Greek or Russian, or any yet-unnamed language, song.

Dark horse: an Indian language. Are there operas based on the Mahabarata, which might have songs in it?

We need to nail this language thing down.

Are the lyrics one of Greek, German or Russian?

could be something like an Edelweiss/popular song that's performed in mass stuff and who knows who started it(most famous performance not by composer or something)
