I know I said I'd come back in the "New Year" to pick things back up again but atak has expressed his excitement for continuing this, which works well since I'm still quite busy these days. With the work he's put in, this is as much his game now as it was mine and I can think of nobody better to be the spiritual successor. So good luck, and keep this game going!

All righty then, the atakmodship will continue. I suppose it's time for another team phase; I'll work that up.

To that end, I'm going to do a little check on my player list prior to starting a team phase, lest some team wind up with several non-participants. I think there are at least a few players who haven't been participating for a while; on the other hand, there might be some who'd like to play and haven't been. I am amused by the PMs that say the sender is out.

So far it appears our game will be substantially smaller when I restart (probably this weekend).

I am contemplating a couple of small rule tweaks that will tend to level the playing field a bit. Details to follow.

Gentlefolk, start your engines: After a brief hiatus (sorry 'bout that) we're about to recommence. We will start with a team round so I will be dividing the group into four teams, chosen as always to maximize anxiety and grumbling. (That, and/or completely randomly.)

I will consider anyone who sent me a PM to be in, even if the PM said the player was out (because the instructions said all PMers would be in). If you really want out, tell me that (again). I will also send one more PM to everyone who was in but didn't reconfirm, just to give people one more chance, particularly because about twenty people didn't respond and I hope I haven't scared that many people off.

If you're not on any list but do want to play, you are encouraged to do so; either post here to that effect, or send a PM to atakdog saying you want in.

I won't put the teams up until I know I have an accurate player count.

Before I post the question, a gentle reminder:

This game is necessarily conducted on the honor system. I manage to make a few of the questions either difficult or impossible to cheat on but for most questions the answer is a quick google away. We all know this. Over the game's lifetime there have been suggestions, some subtle and some not so much, that a few players are not playing fairly. I suspect such innuendo will never go away even though my guess is that cheating is rare or nonexistent in this game, but I will nevertheless remind everyone that it is neither fair nor fun to play a game in which some people are cheating. So please don't do it.
