I think the anti-claiming idea is pretty good, but again, I think the actual mechanism was incredibly high variance.

I have to say I'm surprised how unsuccessful a lot of the POG vet villagers were at clearing themselves. balanced ranges are no fun.

I think it was fair for hotwings to quote the "hurts women" part. There was too much confusion about pbal's role and the village needed some way of trying to understand it.

Was it your intention to make Blomkvist's peeks a little ambiguous and somewhat unreliable? Getting a role description for pbal, but not including aaronk's role despite giving his name and character flavor seems deliberate.

well obviously he could have done better in terms of not dying and stuff

but I think he did a good job of covering his tracks so he went down alone

I think a better anti-claiming device would be:

1) You are a wolf
2) Every night you can guess the role of one player not on your team
3) If incorrect you lose your power for one night
4) If correct you kill that player

That way you get extra firepower when being claimed on, but it doesn't completely change the balance of the game in one night action. Also you can't just use it to EZ-mode seer hunt.

I feel like a lot of the decision to not give entire role pm's to seers was to accomodate the godfather role?

To be fair, I'll use myself as an example. I voted a wolf for 95% of day 1 before switching to another wolf. Then I correctly explained what the lated votes for Wizard meant from a wolf perspective and why Flytrap was a villager. Flytrap ended up being a wolf, but the logic was spot on. Then I outed another wolf before voting for a third one. Finally I spent all day reading dead wolves for who they did not mention and who they defended, cross referenced them, narrowed it down for various reasons into a list of 4 players which included the wolf vig, and ended up choosing incorrectly.

I got massive heat from the next day on.

It's hard to clear yourself if people don't want to clear you.

I still think the best claiming mechanism is to make a list of roles in the game, and balance the ones that you give out, and save some roles for the wolves to fake claim.

The reason this doesnt work in practice is because all of the "obvious power roles" are used, if you balanced it between the "obvious power roles" and the "lesser existing roles" and left some of the first type out for fake claims, claiming wouldn't work as well, imo.
