Try posting this in NVG. It gets way more traffic than this forum. You might also browse through the threads in the Brick and Mortar forum and find people who play live in the Michigan area.

@youretoast - Your post is gone now, in the screenshot you posted it was right below mine but it's not there now, wtf?

Yours was more respectful and better said than mine but yours in gone and mine's still there. That sucks! FWIW this guy looks like someone who thumps the bible on Sunday and cheats on his wife on Monday. What a cowardly douche to delete comments.

Just finished posting to all the representatives listed as against us. God I hate having to "like" those morons but whatever it takes to get the job done.

And kudos to everyone, I've been posting a lot today and I've gotten an uncountable amount of likes on all my posts. Poker people are great people and together we can get this done!

Fred Upton who I believe is the head of the House Committee of Energy and Commerce is a Michigan Rep and UofM grad. I thought about writing Mitch Albom in the past about this issue. It would be amazing if he'd write the article! Also, Joe Cada, WSOP ME winner, is from Michigan too.

  1. Fox News Sunday is seeking input for questions for Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) for this Sunday's show. Let's upvote the poker questions and submit our own: http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/fox-ne...day/look-ahead
  2. The Daily Show is seeking input for story ideas. Let's ask them to cover our issue: http://forums.thedailyshow.com/?page...hread_id=40873
  3. Investor's Business Daily responded to a Facebook post requesting coverage of Black Friday, asking if others would like coverage. Let's reply affirmatively: http://www.facebook.com/permalink.ph...00000102517352
Recurring actions:

Let's continue to own a lot of Facebook pages (senators, Congressmen, Congressional committees, etc.). Rep. Barton has cited our Facebook posts, so we know it works.

  • The House Financial Services Committee's Facebook page is here.
  • Let's get some posts on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce page (here)
  • The Dept. of Justice's page is here.
  • Senators' FB pages: Senator Facebook Listing
  • We need lots of posts on the issue of poker and lots of "liking" of pro-poker comments.
Let's also all send the PPA pre-written letters to our lawmakers. These will be updated when Rep. Barton's poker bill is introduced to the House (in other words, soon), so let's all get the current letters out before that. Once done, please reply ITT with "done", "sent", etc. to encourage others. Thanks!

Finally, let's recruit others. Our personal recommendations of this effort will go far. The daily action plan takes very little time and there's no denying it's way +EV for the time invested. Once done, please post here that you made the request, along with posting your personal commitment to participate in the action plan. I created a short URL for this thread that should help with sharing: http://******/takeaction

Okay, folks, here's the deal when it comes to posting on our wall about online poker: Ryan Byrne just posted to our wall on the subject. Any other posts must be attached to his as a comment. Further wall posts will be deleted. We're glad to hear what people have to say but we won't have you spamming our wall. You've been warned.
This is something we'll want to do for all the Facebook posting we do, IMO.

For politicians, let's try to keep it to one post visible on the wall at all times -- that post preferably made by a constituent who identifies himself/herself as one -- with the rest of us liking and commenting to that post. This will allow us to make our case without generating negative reactions from the owners of the pages.

Thanks!

I think this is good for media pages and individual politicians, but I still like seeing the entire pages of the committees and DOJ completely owned by our comments. I like the idea of completely swamping these pages until something is done in our favor.

The Good News: Our office (I work for a member of congress) has gotten a lot of letters over the last few weeks, so much so that some of the aides who just have no idea on the subject are like "what the hell is this about?", and I explained it as briefly and succinctly as I could.

The Bad News: A large part of the conversation was joking about one letter that simply read: "legalize online poker or there will be suicides."

If you're going to write your representatives, take the time to write a serious letter! I gaurantee someone will read it. It doesn't have to be long, but make it something that won't end up a punch-line for whoever ends up reading it.

May I please get some "likes" on these three? Only one was open posting, so the other two are comments in response to their latest postings.

Although the legislation they introduced is just for taxes, without it, the Barton (or other) bill will not pass so we need to show them some love. Thanks.

Philly Daily News (which is fairly popular even in my south Jersey area) sent out a request for emails about possibly covering it. Sent an email to reporter and got a response.

Quote:
Hi Blaine!

While I am interested in speaking to you about it, my current schedule and workload dictate that it will be probably be a couple of weeks before I can get to it.

I will be back in touch if we decide to move forward with the story.

Regards,

chuck
Hopefully we see how it goes. Sent him an email back saying no problem and thank him for considering covering it.
