John Yarmuth (KY-3) stopped by my work today so our CEO could do some lobbying on my company's behalf.

Everyone was invited for a meet and greet where he gave a little talk and afterward everyone who was interested was able to meet him.

I introduced myself and told him I had been happy to vote for him twice. He was just re-elected for his 2nd term.

I then told him I would like to see the UIEGA repealed. He then asked me for a quick refresher about wtf I was talking about. I told him I would like the right to play poker in my home and not be treated like a criminal. I also asked him to pass the word along to Steve Beshear.

He then moved along and told me he would try to help us out. I understand it's probably not a huge deal to him, and I can't say he was able to convince me that he was totally sincere, but I was glad I got to do more than the emails and voice mails I have sent to politicians in the past.

Personal contact is the best lobbying. Thank you for taking the initiative.

Would you post your talking points or highlights of the conversation? While others may not be in your position, it helps to frame potential discussions, whether they may be with politicians or colleagues.

Thanks for talking to him. I agree that face-to-face conversations are some of the most effective lobbying one can do--far better than a form email. Anyhow, what do you think he meant with the above statement? Was he just giving you lip service, or do you think he was serious?

Obvious lip service IMO. If he needs his memory to be refreshed about what the UIGEA is, he's just giving lip service.

Yeah, what we need is some players running for office.
