Google didn't kick up much when I tried to find out if it is illegal to gamble online in sg. As they seem to have fairly harsh penalties for other otherwise perfectly reasonable things (oral sex, smoking, bananas), I'd be interested to know if I should remove all poker stuff from my laptop before flying out.

FWIW, their gambling laws appear to be relaxing (Singapore Sands Casino) but this seems only to be significant for live play. I don't even know if this new casino will have a card room.

Sweet. TYVM.

Do you know if the new casino has a card room, and if it will be open by April/May 2009?

A lot of asian countries have laws against gambling but they don't really enforce them.

Singapore is a partly muslim country so I am fairly positive it is nominally illegal. However I've played online poker while visiting there (and malaysia, and Thailand) in Internet Cafes and didn't attract any attention.

I suggest no matter where you play, you don't go around advertising it. If you make enemies they could use it to get you in trouble.

You could search the internet far and wide, and you won't find better advice than this.
