One thing I find really helps my poker game is to do a jigsaw every day, play some Bubble Witch, do the Hidato, etc. It's like stretching muscles before a long run or something. I often play Bejeweled during a tournament to keep from overplaying early levels. I also get my fast action fix from some of them so when I sit down at table, I can settle right away into the business of playing poker, which is not a recreational activity. It's really helped my tilt control.

I find most of these kinds of sites have a majority of women users. So, do y'all play other games for recreation? Brain training? Which and why?

I love doing jigsaws too, allthough i don't do a lot of them anymore lately. Hmm, should start again with that soon. I also like to solve Sudoku's, just the regular ones so far, haven't tried a lot of different ones.

While i'm actually playing poker, i'm usually not playing anything else, but i do catch myself reading blogs, and forums all over the place, instead of focussing on the action.

And this probably has no effect what so ever on my poker playing, but until 2 months ago, i was an almost full time World of Warcraft player ( ). i quit about 2 months ago, and that's when i started focussing on poker again. I guess i can only feed one addiction at a time...

Btw, can we keep that our little secret, me playing WoW? Most guys believe no girl has ever played that game. Sounds familiar right, just as no girl ever really plays poker?

lol, I've never played WoW but it always struck me as a game I could get into.

I really like board games, cribbage, and fighting video games. When I was a teenager I loved the Sims computer games.

I have to get packed, I'm out of town for a week, but I had to take a minute and mention an old guy, even older than me, who played WoW. Before he did, he observed and thought female players got breaks from the men, so He created an identity for himself as a highschool girl, complete with a picture of his niece when she was 1. He did very well but as he said to me, it was a revelation to find out what it was like to be thought a girl by men. He said, "Men are pigs, aren't they?" LOL! Not all of them, but...

I always thought it would be a great thing if all kids in highschool had to assume a basic identity of another gender, maybe another race , and enter the cyber world and see how they are treated.

I used to looovveeee the sims, i sometimes think about playing it again, but i also realise once you start, you don't quit really fast either.

And about being a girl in WoW, it can be a bit rough, if you don't have a thick skin, just as it can be in poker. But you can get away with anything tho.
If you make mistakes, the only thing they say, is 'oh well, it's okay, you're a girl'. Which some girls like, and some other really do not like.

Oh, and i found something in wow, that could be useful in poker... the grinding !!!
Hours and hours of grinding, let's see if i can transfer that part to poker.

I think it would a great 'experiment' to have to assume some other identity for a while, just to know what it's like and so on.

Wordfeud is my newest addiction. I started playing lots of magic (very nerdy, i know), but it was too time consuming and took up too much poker time.
