Lirva your viewpoints have been anything but silent. Which is why you have sidetracked numerous discussions and caused lots moderating headaches for the mods here.

The supercommittee gives us our first real path to getting this passed, but if it doesnt get done there I think we're dead for this Congress.
Trying to predict unexpected future events, are we? Three weeks ago, would you have predicted that we'd have a shot to get this through in Dec 2011? No way Jose. Supercommittee is beyond any of our wildest dreams. While we're still underdogs, pretty much any must pass legislation (including the new stimulus that's going to come up when we hit the double dipper) gives us a chance. Give us enough chances and eventually we'll bink it.

Wow, and you're assuming the bill won't be totally whacked with crazy rake, few licenses, and maybe 5 states on board? You've got two Vegas lobbyists in Kyl and Reid walking point with money from big donors who run casinos. These guys are completely ok with shutting down what little is left, leaving a blackout for a year, and not caring how long it takes to maybe get 15-20 states in a pool set up to line vegas coffers.

Yea your right. We should aim to stay pat I think. We have it pretty good still with FT and Stars.

More like 60%, sorry bud this is going to get done. To many big dogs behind this now on both sides.

Supercommittee is teed up for this legislation. It creates revenue without taxes and cant be filibustered. If we cant attach it here, Im not sure what other must pass piece will suddenly be attachable. Fair point that something unforseen can occur, but boy the supercommittee seems like the perfect spot.

Probably doesn't hurt the momentum of ipoker reg that Wynn is rumored to be looking to purchase party/bwin:

There's two likely ways it doesn't get attached to a supercommittee bill. First, there might not be enough support. I don't see this as a huge problem since we really weren't even expecting to have this shot. Supercommittee is a total freeroll. If it doesn't get attached, we just keep building support for the next must pass. Second, the supercommittee might not come to an agreement. This isn't likely, but it's possible. In that case, no new light is shed on where we stand.

I don't think it matters what the must pass is to get the bill attached. There were perhaps some far fetched synergies between UIGEA and port defense,
but if you look at some of the other riders on that bill, they are total head scratchers. In other words, we don't need the bill to have anything to do with anything related to online poker. We just need support...or if we have enough support, lack of opposition.
