We generally followed the Leach List: http://theengineer.theppa.org/2008/1...-leach-list-2/

I know you are selling the membership short in your evaluation. Perhaps it is a reflection of your personal strengths. It is clear from your hard work that these are clearly activities you have great strength and expertise. I am not sure the membership as a whole is as homogeneous as you might imagine. Many efforts have been shocked at the amount of volunteer hours donated simply for the asking, others in hindsight shocked at what could have been had they asked.

I do mention these activities repeatedly as they aren't being done, it would make no sense to suggest efforts already underway. Coordinated events do not necessitate massive time commitment detracting from poker playing, I can imagine incorporating poker in quite a few.

Every group has strengths and weaknesses, and these are relative. For example, if we were pretty good at one thing but outstanding at another, the thing we were pretty good at would be a weakness when compared to the things at which we're outstanding.

I do have data. We've had court cases in KY, rallies in Mass., a meeting in Washington state, two Fly-Ins and other events. These were well publicized to the membership, so these are decent metrics to evaluate at least a starting point.

I also have data on letters sent to Congress, number of signatures on the Poker Petition, and other online activism.

Now, don't get me wrong. It's not like PPA is discouraging these types of activities. On the contrary, PPA is working hard to facilitate all grassroots activism. Rather, I'm expressing why you've not seen spontaneous activities like the ones you mentioned.

Great! I'm glad to hear the PPA is working hard to facilitate more grassroots activism. Having organized many of these types of events I know perhaps better than others that they never happen "spontaneously". To be effective someone is going to have to give the State Dirs some help. No this is not another job bid, I'm set, thank you. But they will need guidance and encouragement.

Your welcome.

I do hope the PPA is more effective in providing the tools for State Directors to try to make a difference in races where those States think they can make a difference and not assume they are simply incapable by the PPA leadership.

PPA believes every state director is fully capable. If PPA felt otherwise, we'd replace the state directors in question.

Also, no state directors have come to me with concerns that they lack the tools they need to accomplish our goals.

This whole situation has me worried. Worried enough to not buy a house and wait to see how the poker landscape shapes out. There will always be online poker; you just might have to move to Bali to play wouldn't be the worst thing that has happened.

Poker cannot be banned. It will fail like prohibition of alcohol did. You cannot regulate the internet.

True, but they can make it harder to play, and even harder to profit. I hope everyone will fight for the legislation in Congress.

If fish can't get money onto sites, then there is no reason to play online in the US.

Not all fish sports the red, white, and blue.

edit: In act i would wager that if a doomsday scenario happened, those that contintue to jump through hoops and play will have a increased win rate. Less US pros, more german and scandi fish (at least for now)
