Online gaming giant FullTilt Poker and Fertitta Interactive, which is co-owned by the family that founded Station Casinos, have struck a partnership to operate an Internet poker website if the activity gains federal approval.

The agreement covers only potential federal legislation for Internet poker, said Tom Breitling, who co-owns Fertitta Interactive with brothers Frank Fertitta III and Lorenzo Fertitta and his longtime business partner Tim Poster....

The thing I find most interesting about this and the ps partnership is that these deals (as far as I know) weren't around during the last legislation push hopefully that means a deal is imminent and happy days are near finally.

It means that the b&m casinos who were standing on the sidelines or opposed to US licensing of Ipoker realize now that it is inevitable and are jumping on the bandwagon to get their share of the market.

the obvious question right now, given the events of the past few weeks, is how much of the opposition to ipoker in the states came from the B&M rooms, and how much opposition is left atm. how much easier will it be to get ipoker regulated in the states with these guys on board?

The Fertita brothers own the UFC. When they bought it about 10 years ago, MMA was banned in most states. It is now sanctioned in all but 2 or 3 states. The UFC devotes a lot of resources to lobbying for sanctioning. So with this partnership comes powerful lobbying muscle for the regulation of iPoker.

Why would MMA have been banned? Did people think it was a game of luck??

(Seriously, this does seem pretty good for us.)

Boxing interests pushed for the bans under the guise of the violent nature of the sport, because they were afraid of the competition.

Really is good news, considering how explosively the UFC has grown (and with it the entire sport of mma). You're right about their lobbying, if they push even a little bit as hard for poker as they have for MMA we could see really big movement. Although a lot of that push was by Dana White, and I don't think he'll be involved in this much since he's pres of the UFC. I dunno, we'll see.

There will be many good things coming from this.

First, I don't think you can do anything other than assume that these partnerships are being formed because a relaxation of online poker laws is imminent.

Second, after that happens we should see a lot of things exactly like online sattys to win live packages.

My younger brother works for a large well known consumer company and spends his entire day looking for ways to meld the online and "real" worlds.

He says look for things like comp hours that accrue regardless of whether you're sitting at a real table in LV or a virtual one online. Cashouts and/or deposits to your account both online and at a casino cage.

The other thing that will be fantastic for all of us is that the changes will make it much easier for bad players to deposit money and play. That will do nothing but increase the number of fish playing online.

We could see a return to the glory days of the early 2000s.
