CALL TO ACTION: PPA donation challenge CALL TO ACTION: PPA donation challenge

With the upcoming WCOOP series starting Thursday, I wanted to issue a challenge to the poker community. As probably anyone who reads 2+2 knows, the rights of online poker players are in a precarious position. With the current regulatory climate, and recent attempts by certain interests to ban online poker altogether, it is now more important than ever that we stand up for our rights and have our interests as poker players heard.

To that end, I issue the following challenge -- with the massive prize pools coming up in the WCOOP series, pledge in this thread that you will donate 2.5% of any final table winnings earned from now until 9/20/09 in a WCOOP or Sunday Major event to the PPA.

FULL DISCLOSURE:

I am not an employee of any poker site, the PPA, or any other company that could benefit from this proposal. I'm not an online pro. I am just a concerned citizen and avid amateur poker player who wants to keep my rights. We all recognize that we need our voices heard on this issue, but to have a voice in Washington, it requires money. The above proposal is a small gesture to make on the part of those who make final tables, but it will go a long way towards fighting for our cause.

I would pledge, but that would be hollow since I most likely will not play any events. As an alternative I will pledge 5% of my supernova freeroll winnings for the entire month of September (minimum of $25 per cash) to the PPA. Hopefully karma will get me a flip when I need it to get the big $$$ this time around Not much probably, but if many others do the same we can make a difference.

Two people in 24 hours... that's a start!

I will be trying to play as many NLHE WCOOPS as I can, but in the spirit of making more of an effort, I'll pledge to donate 2.5% of any final tables I make through the end of the month.

Please spread the word guys! I think we all need to be willing to put our money where our mouth is on this issue.

There is less than a 1% chance that I'll play any WCOOP event. How about if I pledge 2.5% of my Final Table winnings from any miniFTOPs event instead.

Hello All,

Thanks a lot BCEagleAce for this awesome posting. I find it very heartening when people are looking to get involved and help the PPA. I too will be playing some WCOOP events, and I will also pledge 2.5% of any Final Table earnings to the PPA as well. I would like to also say, that if anyone feels like they would like to help the PPA financially, please contact me, there are some areas where your hard earned money can be put to really good use, use that you can see and track and know exactly what it is going to. I just want to let you guys know, 100% of the money donated to the PPA goes to fighting the fight here in DC. Not one dime goes to overhead or salaries. So if you do decide to donate, shoot me an email, bryan@theppa.org, and I will gladly walk you through some of our options. Thanks for this posting and I am glad to be here to help,

No problem Brian - hopefully we are all serious about fighting for the cause.

With the WCOOP starting today, it would be great to see more people pledge! I for one will be battling to make final tables and do my part. There are going to be a lot of 2+2ers who make it deep in the WCOOP events, and that money can go a LONG way I'm sure to helping the fight for our rights!

Spread this message around guys! If you have watched this thread, send it to some friends!

I know this has been asked before but is there a way to pledge any of our rakeback or a flat amount right off our poker roll's, to the PPA?

I'm thinking that the PPA would have as much trouble getting money off of sites as we do, but if the site were in on it, like FTP or stars, that they already send money as a donation to the PPA, and that our money could simply be rolled into that amount.

Any idea on the validity of this or how to get the PPA and the sites to make this work?
