My specific tangent is whether the Indian tribes are subject to the UIGEA if they never agreed to a treaty. That may be a way to circumvent the UIGEA.
I agree, tribal gaming is very complicated, and evolving. One of the reasons I am interested in it is because the Wyandotte tribe is close to getting the OK from the BIA to build a casino near me. The case is very complicated and the state is fighting tooth and nail to stop them.

Funny though, I got all frothy when I learned there was likely going to be a casino 10 minutes from me, but then I researched the Wyandottes and they apparently don't like poker enough to offer it at any of their other casinos. But maybe they'll want to do what is mentioned in the op. Idk.

At one time, don't know about today, Indian tribes in Idaho had bingo only casinos, which played on an inter-tribe (and I believe interstate) network. This was because bingo was a legal game in Idaho, so they could do it without a compact. I would think that any state which allowed live poker games, in any fashion, would be a target for this type of gaming. The tribes could set up an inter-tribe network for these games, but they would have to be played at the Indian casino site.

Umm...Did you happen to notice that this thread is about an agreement signed with Cake Network to provide the software for the Indian tribes to do exactly that? It is already happening.

NB: The network will only exist on tribal lands. You can't access it from anywhere else than the machines they will have at their casinos. Also, although the software is provided by Cake, it won't be a combined player pool with the regular Cake Network.

But, no doubt the moment a federal licensing bill is passed, this Indian network will be ready to open to the international iPoker market.
