Has anyone else had trouble with the 2+2 Android app since yesterday? It starts up, shows title page, then screen goes blank and never gets to forums.

Known issue. They switched over to SSL.

Is that what caused me to get logged out?

Given the recent issues with the SSL upgrade, here are two possible options for those who wish to keep using the legacy 2p2 app, assuming whatever broke with it gets fixed. Also useful for those who wish to use the legacy app but can no longer find it on Google Play, App Store, etc.

option 1: back up the existing APK from a device that has the legacy app, then install it on the device that needs it.


option 2: use the backup APK linked by eeonblue.


Also important to note that the "legacy 2p2 app" was developed by Tapatalk as a branded app for 2p2 before Tapatalk decided to only sell their own Tapatalk app. That is why it is also referred to as the "old Tapatalk app".


So -

The first approach would be to back up the APK off an existing phone that has the legacy app installed, and then use that APK on your new phone.

The second approach would be to use the APK that eeonblue linked to on your new phone.


I have not done either of these so if you give it a shot, please report back with success/fail.

I cant seem to find the 2+2 app in itunes store anymore for iphone. Does anyone know what keywords i should be putting in?

My 2+2 app hasn't been running the past week or so. Possibly due to changes above. I got the brilliant idea to delete the app and re-install. Now, however, when i go in itunes to search for app to download, i cannot find it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

New Tapatalk update (Android) is awful. Ads are loading mid-page, it's as if the ad placement is trying to guess where/when I'll next touch the screen.

If you like the app otherwise, I recommend going with the paid version. I have been on it for a couple years and it gets rid of the ads for .99 a month. Well worth it imo and the developers need an income stream one way or another.

This is the next evolution of pop up ads and it feels kind of like a middle finger from the developers. Are advertisers really expecting someone to spend money who was tricked in to clicking on their ad and taken out of the user's intended app and in to some scammy-feeling website? I say it feels like a scam because these ads seem like they're intended to be clicked when the user actually mean to do something else. I am guessing that advertisers will give more money to apps like Tapatalk if they implement these more predatory types of ads instead of a traditional banner ad which is easier to avoid clicking.

On the flip side, maybe it's us giving Tapatalk the middle finger by using their free software and not giving them any money. Middle of the page ads are probably more motivation to spend money out of frustration.

On another note, I have the latest version of Tapatalk on the iPad and really don't care for the layout. I think the older version on my phone (I've listed the version number before in this thread.) is probably what I would want out of the newer paid version.

Today when I opened the Tapatalk app, I got a notification that I had to log in to the 2+2 Forums again. My password didn't work, and I eventually reached the limit of 5 attempted logins and was locked out for 15 minutes. When I reached my computer, I came to 2+2 and found that I am still logged in. I did not change my password, so I am thinking that something must have changed in the app. Is it possible that the older version of the app is no longer compatible with this forum? I would rather not update (for reasons I've already mentioned in this thread) so I'm looking for some direction as to what might be going on.

Not really related, but I'm having issues logging into the forum via Tapatalk today. I've trying reinstalling the app to no avail. Says "There is an issue with the forum. Please contact a forum admin."

An update to this:

I had the latest version of Tapatalk on my iPad and did not have any problems accessing the forums that way. I think what happened is that Tapatalk killed off some kind of support for the older version I was running and would no longer accept logins from older versions of the software. I updated my phone to the current version of Tapatalk and no longer receive login errors.

It was nice to be without ads for so long. But I guess it's better to have forum access with ads than no forum access at all.

On a side note, the first thing the newly updated app did when I opened it was show a splash screen with all of their premium options. I don't know why but it really pisses me off when apps do that. I'm hoping that my first experience with the app will be to regain access to the forums, but instead it's a splash screen asking for $0.99, $4.99, or $14.99. Can I at least see if the app is going to function on any level before you ask for money?

When I try to log back in via Tapatalk on iOS, I'm getting the following message, despite using the correct password:

Log In Failed
There is a problem with the forum. Please contact the forum admin or try again later.

This has been a persistent issue for a couple weeks now. Anyone else?

Came to this forum to suggest a mobile version of the site. Found this thread and want to join the chorus for an app (even a paid one) or a mobile version of the site.

First post on tapatalk as i upgraded iphones and finally killed the native app. This BLOWS. I would happily pay the nominal fee for a dedicated 2+2 app

Before you accuse me of bringing more politics into ATF (yes it is again related to Wookie's banning of me) but it is so that I can avoid seeing it as much as possible, so my question is how do I get to unsubscribe from a politics thread so I don't see it in my notifications all the time if I'm banned and can't literally go into the thread to unsubscribe?

I'm fairly sure tapatalk pulls subs from 2+2 so that if you edit the subs through the site that should update tapatalk. So, I'm not sure if this will work and can't easily test it, but I would try:

1. In a browser, login and go to your subscriptions page

2. Find the thread you want to unsubscribe from and check the box:



3. Use the dropdown menu at the bottom of the page to delete subscription



Hopefully that works even though you can't view the forum itself.

My tapatalk app is not updating when there is a new post in a thread. It was working fine earlier but has not updated in a couple hours. Is anyone else having this issue?
