Man I ain't gotta ask people who know Bruce if they think he's racist. Dude wrote posts on this here public forum. I can go straight to the source and be a person who knows Bruce my damn self.

...

Now that I've done that, dude seems mad racist.

Yeah, I'm just interpreting.

It's nice that at least one of you is honest about it.

Math doesn't mean **** to dead people. If you don't understand why saving the lives of millions of people is more important than Math, Phds sitting around their offices on campus... maybe you need to go back and do some math. How much tangible goods do math, phds produce vs. cancer casualties, etc.
Oh, yeah? Well, how are you going to count all those dead people without math?

Perhaps the math-smartest, whitest and nerdiest posters on this site hooked up with one of the hotter girls I've ever met. Now she was ****ing crazy, but still, a math nerd had sex.

That's not a blanket statement. Unless you consider something like 'a large number of morons' also to be a blanket statement about everyone ITT (fwiw thats probably correct).

It's a pretty large blanket statement

Doesn't refute anything I said.

I can see that and I agree that this whole swapping places part of the argument is irrelevant other than to illustrate the point DS was trying to make which I thought not to be that relevant. But I do not see why "team" and "minions" or "gang" is such a relevant category and why you need to use such loaded terms. I think some arguments of almost everyone having posted here are pretty bad including mine. It is utterly unfair to pin my stupidity onto others.

DS, you and your gang are doing more harm to the prestige of math/science than any of Bruce's critics.
It is only if you associate "us" with math/science. No need to do that. But I agree that those readers here who think "we" are complete morons and who associate "us" with math/science might be a little less prone to learn math/science in the future. Or maybe the opposite because they are motivated to show "us" up.

No, theres no additional adjective. It's just a large amount.

Don't get me wrong I have no problem with you making non blanket statements about things which aren't blanket statements being blanket statements I'd just hate to see anyone confused about what was actually on going on.

... Yes.

I would like to make a blanket statement. Blankets are terrible compared to duvets and all hotels should replace them like most normal people already have.

Go tell that to the guy who invented the mammogram. I am pretty sure there was no math involved in that.

They may want to, but that is probably at least partly the result of a cognitive bias that weighs their personal experience too strongly compared to that of others. Would a rational person rather be a randomly chosen geek/Asperger type white guy or a randomly chosen black guy if situated behind a Rawlsian veil of ignorance?
As a rational person (who happens to not have it), I would prefer to not have a developmental disorder such as Asperger's.

I also recognize that it is a pretty ****ed up question.

I am not sure whether you see the argument that better math=better cancer cures and so much more on top of that. Like prolonged lives in general or making the earth a better place or leaving earth behind after all or vibrators that act according to your mood. Of course I am only interested in the last one and no dead person is interested in any of those. Because, well they are dead.
