Sounds reasonable, although the ban was overturned so I guess it's all relative.

You really bumped a 4 1/2 month old thread because you were concerned that a poster who has been banned multiple times might have been trolled?

Trolling is usually more subtle. That was blatant smack down.

What to Do? Hey guys,(hope this is right place to ask this sort of thing, if not simply understand its a mistake and not ban me lol. Also keep in mind, i am not fighting or yelling at you guys here and not questioning it to the world but just explaining the situation and looking for answers.....OK now... over the yrs i have been banned i think once or twice and i dealt with it fine and served it and continued. But just this last week, i was banned for a very very unfair reason i believe, and the moderator didn't know the full story imo and i served my ban and now i am back and just want to ask questions such as: Before a mod bans me, why cant they contact me and get my side of the story before they go ahead and ban away?(in this case, i had someone even contact the mod who banned me and tell him i gave the $$ to the person, and the ban wasnt reversed still) while im banned can i make a new account to come back and try to plead my case and not be penalised? I did not do this because i was worried of what the outcome will be. Also, i dont know if i should go into detail here as to why i was banned but I'm happy to do that in a pm or on here with any mod if neccesary. Also, something that really boggles my mind is that i wrote to support on 2+2 from my email and never gotten a response... thats pretty crazy imo

It seems that too many people get permanent banned for trivial reasons on these forums.

Like flouting permabans with new accounts under virtually the same name?

So you tracked down a thread where the sticky about what to do if you've been been banned is discussed, but didn't bother to read the sticky itself?

Sigh.

BTW, this would be a good thread to read the first post in as well:

Thanks for bumping this thread, as I would like to discuss the "What to do if you've been banned" sticky.

Why is all this junk still in it.

3) If you really feel your ban is totally unfair, you should contact:

a - The mod who banned you. State your case, politely, via PM, and there's a chance your ban will be reversed or shortened. [Edit/MH: Owing to recent PM-activation changes, you will have to e-mail Mat Sklansky at mat@twoplustwo.com and ask him to forward your e-mail to the relevant mod.]

b - Another mod of the forum you were banned in. Obviously this isn't always possible, as some forums have only one mod, but if it's the case that the mod who banned you is busy, you can try to get the attention of another mod of that forum.

c - A mod who is familiar with you as a poster. Say you get banned for a week for posting in BBV, but you're normally a solid strategy poster in MSNL. It's very possible one of the MSNL mods can help you broker a deal with the mod who banned you.

d - In rare circumstances you should contact an admin. Mat Sklansky: mat@twoplustwo.com or Ryan Beal. I say rare since to get to (d) here, some time has to have passed while you do (a), (b), and (c), and the ban was temporary, so it's probably over before you can get to (d). The admins are busy too, so be patient with them, but they do read their messages.

If you are permanently banned:

First and foremost, steps (a) - (d) above still apply. These are still you best options for having your side of the story heard and replied to in a polite way.
I know citanul is legend and all that, but still, having this wall of text seems ridiculous when most of it no longer applies and it can all be covered by MH's elegant

I like citanul's post as much as the next guy, but it's time to let this one go. Really, are we still supposed to PM Ryan Beal to ask to be reinstated?

I've been banned, yet again, this time for a even more absurd reason than the first. My username was, "SpinYourMarbles", I made a post asking how I'd go about receiving the books 2+2 promised me for depositing with their code, since I couldn't find a email contact address, and because of this, I was banned for creating spam? Seriously wtf? First I was banned for Nazi support over the most ambiguous statement, even when I'm a Jew ffs, and now I'm banned for "Posting unwanted spam" due to asking 2+2 to keep their part of the deal? Am I going to be banned again here for this post due to disturbing the peace?

Going by the other thread I've read, seems like I'm not the only one who thinks that banning on 2+2 has gotten way out of hand.

And no, I haven't bothered to contact the person who banned me. How am I to even know who actually banned me? And even if I did, how can I expect some mod who's likely on some power trip admit that he made a awful mistake and un-ban me?

As it says in the sticky, you email Mat.

And if you have questions about the book bonus program, you should be posting in the...2+2 Bonus Program forum.

Thank you for not banning me.

I tried emailing him, but I haven't posted enough on this new account to be able to to that yet. What am I to do, post 50x or so posts until I'm allowed to email him?

Yeah, I overlooked that forum, will post in the new forum, wish me luck in not being banned!

I was sort of expecting you might email him from your email client. I'm assuming you have Outlook or a Gmail account or something?

I don't understand the point system. After almost 10 years as a member of this community, I got a 50 point ban because I wrote a stupid post after the Boston bombings. I self exiled from the boards for two months only to find my points in a pm.

You have to be around more than 10 years before Wookie will let you make racist posts, rookie mistake. Walk it off.

I would consider asking the mod that gave you the infraction. They can be subjective.

They expire in October and are not a "ban"

My friend has been banned and asked me to post this on their behalf, hopefully that in itself is allowed.

'I have been using the forum for about 8 months. I then tried to log in and it said I had been banned reason: undesirable. How do I find out what I have done that has caused me to be banned? I have sent an email to Mat but am yet to have a reply'

He is following the correct course of action e-mailing. Waiting for a reply from Mat would be the way to go; and what I'd do if it were me.
