What should users do if they don't have their account email? (READ THE FIRST POST!) - About the Forums

A few of my friends (GTBMuckface and BitchiBee specifically), and I'm sure MANY others, don't know or don't have the email address that they signed up with. I'm making this thread in an attempt to alleviate the millions of threads, even though they'll probably still pop up. Is there anything they can do, or are they SOL?

While there may be other ways to verify identity, the only other way to go for now is if you can verify your identity in some way to a moderator. And if that mod is willing to vouch for you, they will send me a pm.

In some cases people aren't receiving the pw reset emails. AOL users, for example. I'll verify these manually for now.

with so many people in this situation, we'd obviously like to help people verify their identities, but in these first few days of coming back there's just not enough manpower to make it happen quickly

Mod note: Myself (SGT RJ) and Bobo Fett are also trying to help out with the stranded user backlog. BF's email is listed under his profile, and I can be reached at sgtrj1@gmail.com. Please provide as much proof as possible to demonstrate that you are the owner of the account you are trying to access: registration email address (even if you can't access it), DOB, infraction/warning history, people who will vouch for you (along with contact info for them if necessary), anything else you can think of that make it obvious that you own the main account.

Once you've had your account fixed up so the registered email address is one you have access to, you can use the password recovery form.

I don't have any idea what email account I used for my real user name. Help would certainly be appreciated.

If we can't verify their identity, then there's nothing we can do. At least in the short term. However, in cases where people we know personally can vouch for the identity of others, that will also work.

And if anyone is in las vegas, I'd be happy to allow access if someone is willing to allow me to keep a copy of their identification.

Is it possible you could just tell me what email I used to sign up because if I know which one I used I could probably get access to it.

OR

You have IP history right? Can you verify that way?

Yeah, the email account I used to sign up with as steel108 has long been closed; at least I have no clue what it might be. Damn, it was 2006 so it was probably yahoo LOL

It's possible there may be some other options, but it will have to be addressed later. Sorry about that. Hopefully there won't be too many issues associated with the outage and this issue will become top priority.

What if a green mod can vouch for my identity, is that good enough?

This is ridiculous. Your solution is to have everyone go visit you in Vegas?

I signed up for my primary account in college (nbajam) and no longer have access to my college email address which I'm guessing is what I used. So I'm going to lose access to all of my pm's that I had from my dealings in the marketplace?
