Hi, it appears my previous post here was deleted.

I am a student at Ryerson University in Toronto, ON. I am conducting a non-profit study regarding the impact technology has on children. I would like to post the link to my questionnaire in relevant forums on 2p2, and have realized I will need permission to do so.

I can't seem to PM any mods directly, I hope this topic can get me in contact with one.

I'm interested as to why you feel that this forum would be an appropriate venue for gathering the evidence necessary for your research. The members here are adults, it would not be random enough in the sense needed for statistical analysis, data gathering would be difficult and no relevant conclusion could be gained from what would be anecdotal findings.

I do like to support research though...

This isn't the only forum/venue where we are attempting to collect data. I would be reaching out to parents on 2p2, not just forum members. We are looking for high traffic venues where we can gather lots of data. Regardless of whether data is collected here or not, the scope of our study won't be big enough to make any conclusive findings.

However, we hope that it does spur some discussion and lead to further research of the topic. I would PM you the link, but that feature doesn't appear to be activated on my account. Thanks for you interest.

The introduction to our proposal for the study:

Quote:
Technology continues to advance and it’s a part of everyday life for many people; consequently, younger children are being exposed to electronic devices earlier and more often. Support continues to grow for educational environments to start incorporating technology as tools to enhance learning. For instance, in 1996, a statement by the National Association for the Education of Young Children was released supporting the implementation of technology in early childhood environments (McCarrick & Xiaoming, 2007). However, there remains a gap between the growth of technology use in early childhood and corresponding research on its effects. Further research is needed on the impact of technology use in early childhood and its effects on development and behavior.

The deletion should tell you that the answer was no.

I figured it was most likely the fact a moderator saw a link to an outside source and auto-deleted it, since I didn't ask first (I couldn't since I cant PM).

However, if 2p2 stance on non-profit academic studies is that they do not support or want anything to do with them, then I understand. Consequently, I do think the study has some relevance to the forum.

Regardless, thanks for your response.

IMO, he should post it in our "child rearing and caregiving" forum.

I'm sure us 4L'ers could be good parents. Some of our members don't even flush their turds.
