Anyone who does not care about sigs will ignore the thread.

So all you can say is that of those who noticed the poll and had any interest at all, some percentage is for/against. In other words, it's all but meaningless.

Personally, I find most sigs very slightly annoying but I wouldn't vote to have them banned because a civilised society does not go around banning every minority activity just because a few people don't like it. Only if a very significant majority of people found sigs more than trivially annoying should TPTB consider banning them - which seems to be the attitude adopted so far.

Just because a tiny minority of 2+2 posters repeatedly make a lot of fuss about something is not a good reason to pander to their wishes.

What's so confusing? The vast majority in this poll are against anything more than a real name sig; that can't necessarily be extrapolated to the vast majority of posters. Aren't we in agreement there? Or was this just your way of, once again, avoiding the question of what you're basing your claim that a small minority of posters are against them on?

Absolutely, but at least it's some kind of indicator. However, the only one making strong claims about what the majority of 2+2 posters wants is tompakee. Given that the only evidence we have, as incomplete as it may be, points to the opposite of what he claims, I don't think asking him what he bases these claims on is unreasonable.

Also, I think we'd find that a much larger share of posts and page views are represented in this thread than from a random sample of 113 members.

The reason this thread is mainly about you is that most people have the common courtesy not to do something that annoys a lot of other people. On the internet we have a term for those that don't have that courtesy: trolls.

I have seen numerous complaints here, in nvg, and in OOT about your signature. It's not just me. I'm just the one that has nothing better to do at the moment than start an ATF thread about it and try to make some change happen.

Can you answer why you have kept using it when many find it annoying? Can you also answer why you threw out the 66% number and then didn't stick by it?

Lets get to the root of the problem. To answer your questions: reasonable use of smileys in posts doesn't bother me at all (or anyone). Overuse of smileys or smileys in signatures bother me (and a lot of people). Using it at the end of every post really isn't that different from the ridiculous picture signatures others started using in this thread.

But i don't overuse it...Or do you consider one smiley to be overused. Why would you claim itt and in a PM you sent me that it's the smiley that tilts the hell out of you not the signature?
