I'd listen to this guy, he's received infractions from a really broad spectrum of mods, so he knows his way around moderation.

Although not enough to realize that it was the people who run the site who made every call during the DN thing.

SGT Did send me a PM and nicely asked me if i could refrain from using my sig in certain forums (this one not included fyi) or if i could at least shorten it a little. It seemed some whinny bitches were sending her PM's crying about my signature and for the sake of peace and quiet i have agreed to shorten it.

I can't see how an extra 8 words at the end of my posts bother people but as i said out of respect for SGT's respectful request i decided i would. I am sorry if my annoying signature has invaded your little online world but maybe you just need to close down your computer for an hour a day and get outside, smell some flowers, feed some ducks or what ever.

I understand ur reaction. It is normal to be protective of ur friends. But ASIDE from thinking about friendship, do you think that obviously present , powerful, and patronising mods are the best way to make users of 2+2 feel part of a online community.

As for my infractions ? Well yes some were instances of trolling. My most severe one was using the english word "gay" which means bad, and an american mod thought i was insulting homosexuals. He (noah) wouldn't even respond to me, and left me feeling really kinda bad. I am in no way homophobic and am completely "liberal".

The way mods talk to posters and act is alienating and unpleasant. As shown by your own reaction.

I think anyone who uses the word "gay" as being synonymous with "bad" loses any right to call him or herself completely liberal. Just give a little thought as to how this definition has entered modern slang, and maybe you can figure out how someone could take it as homophobic.

I'm sure this is true at times. But I'm curious as to what kind of reaction you were expecting to a statement like "RJ is one of the worst mods easily. And that is saying alot."

All else aside, there seems to be some misconception that all of the moderators are friends, and nothing could be further from the truth. Some of the mods detest each other.

The "us vs. them" mentality almost always comes from the posters, not the moderators. You see it repeatedly when someone equates one moderator action (or inaction) or comment to represent the entire moderator community.

I don't even know nor have had any interaction with at least 80% of the other mods. We are as dissimilar a group as the rest of the posters.

That said, I am Bobo Fett's biggest fan.

Yes, your signature is annoying to look at. The extra lines that don't appear distinct from the post until read, the confusing words, the way too smiley face at the end, all bright and yellow and standing out. But the real issue I have with it is why do you do it? What purpose could your signature possibly serve except to annoy those who might otherwise have appreciated your posts? I'm genuinely curious to know the thought process you went through when embarking on this campaign.

I'm not friends with SRG (I mean I have no issues with her, but we've basically never interacted at all). I'm just amused by posters who consistently break the rules complaining about moderation. There's a pretty direct correlation between number of infraction points and posts complaining about the mods in ATF.

I'm not going to go back and get an exact list, but IIIRC the bulk of your infractions were for some form of anti-gay bigotry. So even if there was some weird language issue that you're hiding behind, you didn't learn your lesson the first time.

Different cultures certainly do use the same words to mean different things, but you're surely you're smart enough to understand why using the word commonly used for a homosexual male to = stupid can be considered offensive. Because it basically means that gay and stupid are interchangeable words, so being gay is stupid or undesirable.

I don't think you're anti-gay, but I do think your stubborn insistence that you should be allowed to use the term in a manner others find offensive is baffling. How hard is it to just use the word "stupid" when you mean "stupid"?
