Sometimes people I meet ask me about my job, and if there's enough time, I'll say something like this:

Occasionally there are some serious issues that come up involving the website and our volunteer moderators. For instance, Monkey Banana once insulted Zorkman. Called him a wingnut in a thread about politics in a puzzles forum on our website that's still populated with poker players.

Anyway, Zorkman started a thread about this horrible abuse of power, and all kinds of people weighed in. We had a Screaming Asian and a Sheep Rustler. All kinds of people making suggestions and accusations.

"What do you do in that situation?" they ask. "What do you think?" I reply.

I've been called a wingnut a few times and I thought it was a compliment. I mean, who does't like wings and nuts?

And wingnuts are the best kinds of nuts - you don't even need a wrench!
