Basically, coaches aren't entitled to all the free advertising space they want on 2+2. Advertisers pay good money to have their products shown to users here and there's no reason why coaches should get to promote themselves for free on the site in the first place. The site rewards people who contribute strategy to the forums with a directory listing and a thread for feedback/discussion, and I think it's darn nice of them to. We came very close to a sizable fee for anybody who wanted to advertise themselves in that forum.
Coaches are allowed to post whatever they want in this regard in their profiles, and this is space they should be making better use of imo. That's where the directory links to. The idea is to keep the forums free of excessive self-promotion. It's a tricky balance between doing this, keeping advertisers satisfied, and getting users the information they need to make good use of the site, but I think we're doing OK.
