Am I the only one that thinks the 2+2 forums need an upgrade?

I agree but aint the creator of the site and its still fully functional so I would guess no to cut costs down

I like it the way it is.

Never change a running system.

Just change to the 'slick' skin.

Except for not having support for embedding some newer imageformats, 2+2 is pretty close to the perfect forum when it comes to looks and functionality imo.

omg never change. This is how a forum SHOULD be and it's why I hate most other forums. And no, it's not just about familiarity.

probably not, but if it isn't broken don't fix it. i can't remember the last time i saw a website "upgrade" worthy of the description. if i still had an email account that i couldn't utilise a web login for, i'd use pine to access it.

I even use the default. 40 posts a page tho.

Hi Everyone:

We have a problem in that this site got so large that we can't update to the next generation of the software we use because it won't handle a site as large as 2+2.

We have also looked at other software but can't be sure as to how well the transition would go. So at least for now the decision was made to keep everything as it is.

I say it lacks usability.. It's a good forum for early 2000's..

example 1: I just tried to find the slick skin, and I gave up as I watched the whole table on the left AND checked settings under my 2+2. if there's an ability to change skins, it should be on a place that's IMPOSSIBLE to overlook imo.. ( I know there is, as I allready switched settings before, but after clearing all my caches/passwords/cookies/... I haven't switched it back and now can't find it anymore)

example 2: can't upload an image, today, you should be able to just "drag and drop" images ..

I just thought it would be a fun suggestion btw, not something that has to be done ( immediately). But don't forget 2+2 is a publishing company, not greenpeace. This means they have profits, and profits should be invested in innovation imo

that the forum doesn't earn money because there are no ads or products sold doesn't make a difference, having this amount of visitors daily is huge publicity which doesn't come as cheap as a site you only update once every 15 years

finally: when I try to search something on 2+2 I use google instead of 2+2 search lol.

Example 1: 'My 2+2' (which you say you've checked?) and 'edit options' should be pretty straightforward and intuitive I would think?

Example 2: Not used any forum where you can just use drag and drop for images - I'd think that would require the forum to have it's own storage space for pictures? It could be made somehwhat simpler by translating an image-link without needing the tags, but it's just a click and doesn't really bother me.

And you might think about this one: isn't it obvious that people who have 500+ posts on 2+2 find the forum "easy" or sufficient to work with ? After a time you learn to work with 2+2, but then again, quoting Elon Musk" if a product needs a manual, it's broken"

Just saying, Personally I waited 1 year registering an account on 2+2 and even then it took me 3 months to finally make a post as I couldn't find my way on these forums and by the lay out I actually thought it was dying.

(after looking at statistics I noticed 30K people were using it at the same time sometime earlier this year so yeah, I got betrayed by the layout )

but, as in all business, cherish your long relationships but keep the pipeline full. I think a lot of people who only visit rarely or without login would if the forum was easier to work with/more user friendly to browse through.

No, I don't.. But I do find a forum like. Pokervip eg looks a TON more attractive. Their video search future could still improve a lot, but the video directory of 2+2 is just a jungle to me .. I am aware there must be some golden videos somewhere in the database, but I can't find them..

That said, I do understand 2+2 is a gigantic forum and it's very difficult or impossible to tranfer or change the system. but one of the main reasons the forum is so disattractive to new members may be the toughness to spit through all the pages of threads

but that doesn't mean there can't be improvements made on other places. Like eg. when someone quotes you, you get a pop-up notification. When someone posts a video, they can add tags like the forum ( NLHM/LHLM, MTT/CASH, 6M/9M, MICRO/SMALL/MEDIUM/HIGH, ...

I'm sure there could be a lot of feedback or volunteers to do some programming, we just need to activate the community. Why should we wait and copy what others do if we can activate the community, innovate, and lead

And @Venice, sure .. but people Like Elon are visionaries. That's why they are respectable industry leaders. Steve Jobs didn't die leaving the most valuable company build in a lifetime by copying it's competitors. etc etc

I don't have a problem finding out how to change things on 2+2 and the look of the site is perfect. I don't like that overly complex video game look that some sites use, I have to think about how to work the buttons rather than focusing on the information.

So, its Elon Musk that I have to blame for having a phone with a million functions and no instructions? Thanks for nothing Elon!

greed, You sound like a good guy, but I'm betting that you are a couple of years younger than me, lol. Don't worry, the innovators will be driving right over me eventually, but I'm not going to get up out of the street and make it easy for them.
