I can honestly say that for the last 3 to 4 weeks, I have been beating my limit. I am playing NLHE 0.05/0.10. In about a month, I will have doubled my bankroll and be able to move up to 0.10/0.20. Of course, I have to keep playing well. Last night was not the case. I was sitting at a table with 3 fishes and one maniac. The maniac bought for 60BB and in less than 20 minutes was at 220BB. Playing the fishes was fun but my real target was the maniac. Then i got dealt KK. I went all in and so did I and I doubled. A bit later, he was gone and so were the fishes. I stuck around a bit. (Lesson #1 - When there are no more targets at the table, go sit somewhere else. You'll just end up winning the blinds with your good hands and folding the bad one or you might get impatient and do this:

Poker Stars $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked.com

CO: $11.00
BTN: $14.15
Zero (SB): $14.50
BB: $12.15
UTG: $8.40
MP: $10.00

Pre Flop: ($0.15) Zero is SB with K A
UTG calls $0.10, 3 folds, Zero raises to $0.30, BB calls $0.20, UTG calls $0.20 So far so good. Probably have best hand

Flop: ($0.90) 6 K T (3 players)
Zero bets $0.90, BB raises to $2.80, UTG folds, Zero calls $1.90 (Lesson #2 - I flopped TPTK but my opponent (VPIP 19%, PFR 16%) is obviously not affraid of TPTK, so why the $·%/ did I call. This is a F-O-L-D)

So what can he have? TT and KT comes to mind. I doubt he has KK.

Turn: ($6.50) A (2 players)
Zero checks, BB checks (Lesson #3 - I made top 2 pairs. A good bet here would have told me if he had TT or KT although his check suggest KT or that he is affraid of a straight.)

River: ($6.50) T (2 players)
Zero bets $0.60, BB raises to $6, Zero calls $5.40 (Lesson #4 - What a ****** bet. If he has TT, he now has quads, if he has KT, he has a fullhouse so lets call his raise and see. duh!!!!!)

Spoiler:
Final Pot: $18.50
Zero mucks Kc Ac
BB shows Kh Tc (a full house, Tens full of Kings)
BB wins $17.60
(Rake: $0.90)

Lesson 1 and 2 are the most important here, mostly lesson 2. Figure out when you are beaten on the flop and get out of the hand. Don't be the moron at the table like I did.

Feel free to throw all the available insults at me. I guess I need them.

Well, actually these lessons need to be learned in order to move up. Think your analysis is good. Reviewing hands like these on a rational and honest level does improve the quality of your game dramatically. Keep up the good work op!

You don't even know pre-flop bet-sizing.... one of the most simple things in poker.

Please tell me how your going to double your BR if you even fail at that principle?

Flop bet-size is also wrong.

Turn bet size is also wrong

River bet size is also wrong

I suggest you go read somewhere on what to accomplish with what bets and why you bet and what size etc.

let's recap:

[ ] big isolation raise when you are likely the favorite preflop
[x] choose the worst of your 3 options facing a flop raise
[ ] after almost certainly taking the lead on the turn, bet for value
[x] donk bet a bad river card
[x] put in 54 more big blinds facing a river raise with 3 pair

excellent analysis and good luck when you move up.

I posted a few hands last week about this and I got great answers, not just: wrong, wrong, wrong. And this will be my homework this week. I have been reviewing my losing hands and, besides stupid plays like the one here, I manage to plug 3 disastrous leaks. Now, I am reviewing my winning hands to see how I could make more on them. Bet sizing is really bad, I know. Going all in or not preflop is another problem that will be taken care of this week too.

I will gladly come back to you on the 26th of november to share how well did I do as far as bank roll is concerned.

By the way, did you take the time to read my post? Turn bet size is wrong? I checked the turn. River bet size is wrong? I said so myself.

Wd op! It's okay to make mistakes. The most important thing is to REALIZE it when you make mistakes, this is the most important edge you will have over opponents simply blaming variance, godspells and doomswitches.

I do agree btw, that 2 more mistakes are your pf-raise, which should be $.40-$.50, and your flop bet, which should be $.45-$.70

Lesson 1 is actually: Fold AK preflop, especially when it's suited.
