Also read Hold'em Poker for Advanced Players and Small Stakes Hold'em and thought they were no limit books.
Dude wtf you sir are awesome. People need to hit people more often imo, and I too thought that the two books mentioned pertained to NLHE.

LOL this thread is absolute gold. I've laughed so much at my internship that I think everyone in the office thinks I'm somewhat ******ed.

Anyways, got into the game senior year of high school (2005). Used to play with friends, and suck ass. My best friend and I used to play heads up games for pennies on the floor of my living room almost every day - we both sucked, but I kept beating him because he was like 10/10 HU.

Me and my friend came up with names for every possible combination of hands, so we could beat the games that we played in with our friends using our secret codes.

Ice = diamonds
Dirt = spades
Golf = clubs
Blood = heart

We also had names for offsuit combos, like spade/diamond would be mud, etc. Came up with names for most of the hand combinations too.

Another story I remember was way back when I started to play on Pokerroom with $100. I'd read the book "internet texas holdem" and decided to play .25/.50 limit. I was playing 2/4 limit soon enough, and hit a royal flush back when Pokerroom would give you 200x the small blind, or 100bbs. I was in my dorm room at the time and yelled so loud my roommate woke up, fell out of the top bunk and broke his finger.

during our first home games we played 25 50c w/ $5 buy in

if someone would raise preflop, the entire table would get pissed and throw his chips back at him, not allowing it

Now that I think about it I think I'm still having these moments. I felt like a balla when I got to move up from the "Micro" group on stars to the "Low" section last week.

About 2.5 years ago, I started with play money over at PS, and had over a million in the 1st six months, playing any two from any position.

Thought I was probably Doyle's illegitimate son.

Started playing real money using the same techniques, and in no time was quickly down about $700.

Started reading poker books, watching videos, bla, bla, bla.....

Got better....

and now I'm only down about $687.

Look out, WPT!

My first brush with poker came freshman year in college when my friends played with pennies, refusing to study for exams having full confidence that the next day it would snow. However I didn't take part in the game.

Then, one day I watched my teammates (D1 tennis) play 1 sng in my college. I quickly learned the rules and started playing in them. 5 bucks, 2nd place gets twice his buyin (10), winner takes the rest. I chopped (lol) with my buddy in like 3 of them, and we joked that we should form a team and make money off of people this way (collusion ftw!). I thought I was awesome. After 3 yrs of the occasional college game, after I graduated I deposited 100 onto full tilt that summer, and somehow didn't lose my roll whilst occasionally having heart pounding, adrenaline rushing super monkey tilt sessions (down to 20 at one point). I survived, and now its BRM 4 life son.

I curse myself for not having found out about online poker and wasting tons of hours playing Counterstrike throughout college instead (although that was quite fun, but fun + $$$ > fun + CS).

When 4 people limped ahead of me I'd just call to trap with my AA and raise all in on the river unless there was a four flush or straight to scare me off,then I'd just check call down.
