I decided to make a follow up thread to my "Downswing has me second guessing" thread because I am lost, to say the least. Now I wont be pissing and moaning about the beats Ive taken cause Ive been around long enough to understand how this game goes. First I want to fill you in on where I am at in my poker career.

I played exclusively on FullTilt for the first 2 1/2 years I played. As I started to get better It was brought to my attention that I was wasting a lot of money in rake so I decided to move to PokerStars. Before I could deposit any money they sent me $5 so I decided to see what I could do with it. In the course of a couple months I grinded to just about $700. I started at NL2 and progressed to NL50. Here is a graph of this:

At this time I deposited $2,000 into my account planning on rolling myself for NL100. This wouldve been the first time playing at these stakes consistantly properly rolled. So I was excited. But I never made it. Ive been doomswitched. And I am not really sure where I stand with poker right now. So I have a few questions that I would like some insight on by a couple of you highstakes ballers. This really pertains to people that play for a living.

I have always been good with bankroll management and even with a (at the time) $2,700 roll I stuck to NL50 and NL25 when sh*t hit the fan. That ~$700 that I made is now about $215 and I am sick. Not that I lost that much but that I see the swings that can take place. Now I am gonna go on a limb here and say that I am a decent player. I know that if I sucked then these swings would be irrelevent but I dont believe that to be the case. For the most part I have kept my game solid throughout this but I am sure my play has suffered due to the swing. My confidence is shot.

For those of you that play this game for a living Im curious to know how you handle this. I dont mean the occasional few days of bad luck but the downright losing stretches. Are you so overrolled that you can absorb these times or do you really jump down a few levels and just weather the storm? I must say that I have a true passion for this game and want nothing more than to make it a career but going through weeks of this has me second guessing the reality of it.

Anyways here is a graph of my breakeven/downswing. Even through this I have managed a 5ptbb/100 but fear this is in jeopardy if things dont change soon.

Heres some hands from today and yesterday:

Poker Stars, $0.25/$0.50 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 5 Players
BB: $31.20
Hero (UTG): $50.20
CO: $23.70
BTN: $11.70
SB: $50

Pre-Flop: J Q dealt to Hero (UTG)
Hero raises to $1.50, CO calls $1.50, 2 folds, BB calls $1

Flop: ($4.75) T 9 8 (3 Players)
BB checks, Hero bets $3, CO calls $3, BB folds

Turn: ($10.75) 8 (2 Players)
Hero bets $7, CO raises to $19.20 and is All-In, Hero calls $12.20

Hero showed J Q (a straight, Eight to Queen) and LOST (-$23.70 NET)
CO showed J 8 (a full house, Eights full of Nines) and WON $47.15 (+$23.45 NET)

Poker Stars, $0.25/$0.50 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 5 Players
BB: $26.25
UTG: $52.15
CO: $52.50
Hero (BTN): $49.25
SB: $44.25

Poker Stars, $0.10/$0.25 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 5 Players
BTN: $26.45
SB: $31.85
BB: $36.85
Hero (UTG): $28.45
CO: $10.05

Pre-Flop: Q K dealt to Hero (UTG)
Hero raises to $0.85, CO calls $0.85, BTN raises to $1.45, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.60, CO calls $0.60

Flop: ($4.70) Q K 8 (3 Players)
Hero checks, CO checks, BTN bets $1, Hero raises to $4.75, CO calls $4.75, BTN calls $3.75

Turn: ($18.95) A (3 Players)
Hero checks, CO bets $3.85 and is All-In, BTN calls $3.85, Hero raises to $22.25 and is All-In, BTN calls $16.40 and is All-In

River: ($63.30) A (3 Players - 1 is All-In)

Results: $63.30 Pot ($2 Rake)
BTN showed A T (three of a kind, Aces) and WON $32.25 (+$5.80 NET)
Hero showed Q K (two pair, Aces and Kings) and LOST (-$26.45 NET)
CO showed J T (a straight, Ten to Ace) and WON $29.05 (+$19 NET)

In this hand above I had a pretty good read on the button, he was sh*tty. When the turn was an ace I might have folded with any aggression from button thinking he might have a higher two pair. When he just called CO shove i put him on AJ, A10 or worse.

Poker Stars, $0.10/$0.25 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 5 Players
CO: $5.30
BTN: $21.35
Hero (SB): $30.80
BB: $24.80
UTG: $14.95

Pre-Flop: K K dealt to Hero (SB)
UTG folds, CO calls $0.25, BTN folds, Hero raises to $1.25, BB calls $1, CO folds

Flop: ($2.75) 2 6 4 (2 Players)
Hero bets $2.25, BB calls $2.25

Turn: ($7.25) T (2 Players)
BB bets $4, Hero calls $4

River: ($15.25) J (2 Players)
BB bets $7, Hero calls $7

Results: $29.25 Pot ($1.40 Rake)
Hero mucked K K and LOST (-$14.50 NET)
BB showed T T (three of a kind, Tens) and WON $27.85 (+$13.35 NET)

I was praying for queens here. I also had a little history with villian and he was very tight. It was unlikely for him to call me with anything less than 99+ here and would only reraise KK or AA.

Yeah dudde you still suck after reading all the 2+2 nonsense they've fed.
I dont play anything like 2+2 suggests.
Really, you need to find a style that is profitable and stick with.
If you can, anyways.

And please, never again, try to patronize a winner. Thanks.
No im not going to offer any help, because you wouldnt listen anyways so its a waste of my time.
If you would like to break down your wall and ask for some help (from me), send me a PM. ill be glad to assist you. In the mean time ill be continuing my 20BB/100 hands play at the same limit as you play. Cya

All those hands look pretty standard to me.

Post some EV graphs, you might learn more from that than just looking at net results imo. Include your upswing in that too.

They can be found somewhere inbetween the stacks of money you've lost and your lack of confidence.

This graph to me looks like a losing player hit a heater for 4,000 hands and started to think he was good.

Then that player started to get owned again and forgot how much he sucks at poker.

sucks for u dude. HHAHA
