I had pocket fours on the button and someone(turns out the pocket sevens) raised to 3x in early position and got three callers ahead of me. They all had deep stacks so it was a solid opportunity to play the 4's as a drawing hand with good implied odds. Got a 4AQ rainbow flop so obviously about as good as I could hope for. Pocket sevens guy bet half pot, I raised him and he called. Turn was a 9 and he went all in. I called, river was a seven.

It is really frustrating when people take lines that no one would ever make and it works out for them- I remember a table that played standard for hours and then suddenly someone open shoved for like 50 bb preflop with a hand like 73o and made two pair when I called waking up with KK (only on that one isolated hand). It felt very much like he “knew” my hole cards and the resulting runout.

Some of the people who act like robots on the forum are lying to you when they say this is all normal and they don’t get upset at this, but it is true that at the end of the day this is why poker is potentially profitable. You make money when other people make mistakes. Sometimes their mistakes end up with you losing money, but your only goal is to win EV.

Rigged?

This is wildly out of context and I never posted this as its own thread. I posted a reply to the huge "Is online poker rigged?" thread that made a small mention of this hand as one part of a lot of things that made me suspicious(not made me some conspiracy theorist who's sure it's rigged, just made me wonder a little if the specific site I'm playing on can be trusted). Someone quoted that and made some incorrect assumptions about the specifics of the hand so this was a quote reply to them fully explaining the hand.

Not sure why it got moved to its own thread with a title I never made, but I agree that it makes me look ridiculous.

heres the deal: despite how ridiculously gut wrenching and improbable events seem when playing online, the truth is that the RNG's are random. The sites have no incentive to screw their players or generate action hands, they rake millions out of their player pools. My advice is dont pursue this any further, because there are many people who just cannot get on board with the idea that online is fair because of XYZ events they went through, and they are vocal...yet when they bink a tourney you see them return to the thread and say 'hey guys, i was wrong, its fair, etc'

I was surprised to see so much hostility but like I said over there I guess it makes a lot of sense... If you feel cheated, you're probably going to be angry. If you feel it's a matter of bad players looking for an excuse it's going to be more than a little annoying by the time there's a thread as long as that one on it. Seems like a formula for a lot of potential hostility so I get that. Anyway, I won't go and repeat everything I've already said over there.

My problem was this post being essentially made for me by a mod and making me look like a nutjob. Putting that post in its own thread titled "Rigged?" isn't something I ever would've done and it seemed crazy that a mod would do that on a user's behalf. He's PM'd me and I realize that his intent was just to share my bad beat in BBV, so that's fine I just wouldn't have titled it "Rigged?" had I made it. I'm not some nutjob thinking all online poker is rigged or even that the site I use is definitely rigged or anything. I just had enough happen in weird, extremely unlikely but consistent enough ways to make me wonder to the point that I wouldn't trust putting any more money in. I've played a lot of online poker and I've never suspected anything like that at all on any other site or before on this site.

Most importantly in the context of this thread, this individual hand isn't what made me suspicious.
