You know what really gets me off? People who call your preflop raises with, like, nothing.

Some friends and I recently went drove up to Windsor, to get in some love poker. We usually play online, but we figured it would be nice to change it up. Okay, so I decided to buy in short and double up some. So I buy in for $50, and most of the people there had about 200. After making sure I knew what was going on and could get good reads on all of the people playing, I knew it was time to make my move. I still had like 42 dollars or so. So, I get dealt eights! On the button! They're one of my favorite pocket pairs, because they're not too high, so you don't get overconfident, and they're not too low, so you can still win pots. Everyone folds to me, and I raise it up to $8. Both of the blinds call. Flop is 4, 5, 6, 2 hears and a diamond. Well I still have top pair, but like I said, I don't like to get overconfident, so I min bet: $4. They both call, obviously, because apparently they were feeling lucky. So the next card was a 9, and I check, scared of the overcard. They both check as well. The river was a seven of hearts, and so I shoved (with my straight), and one of them called me and he had a flush?!! He had like jack 3 or something, why would he call my preflop raise? It just really peeves me off when people do stuff like that and get paid off.

So you don't realize how awful you played that hand?

- You didn't have top pair, you had an over pair
- Minbetting the flop is not being careful it's plain stupidity
- Checking the turn is - if possible - even more stupid, since there's no reason to think anyone has a 9

Do we need to go into detail, explaining how bad you played the hand?
