I was railbirding a friend who was playing 3-card/6-card poker.

below is quick description of the game for those not familiar otherwise skip the spoiler

Spoiler:
For those of you not degen enough to know this game, the dealer deals you 3-cards and then deals himself 3-cards. You make a 3-card poker hand and then if you bet the 6-card bonus you use your 3-cards and the dealers 3-cards to make a normal 5-card poker hand. So if you have AA4 and the dealer has A54 you end up with a full house AAA44 when you combine your hand and the dealers hand.

Now, what is funny about this game is the cards are dealt 3 at a time and then passed out to each player in a lump sum of 3. So if someone sits to your right then they get the hand you would have gotten. There are 7 player spots in this game.

So, I'm watching my friend degen away some money when the 6 seat decides to go to the bathroom. The 7 seat is playing $100 per spot on all his bets. A few hands go by.

Right as the dealer is getting ready to deal the next hand, seat 7 sees seat 6 approaching the table from a few yards away and seat 7 stops the dealer and says, "Wait, the guy is coming back"

So the dealer waits a few seconds until seat 6 sits down and places his bets and then the dealer deals. So now, seat 6 gets the hand seat 7 would have gotten, seat 7 gets the hand the dealer would have gotten.

Seat 6 gets K K K
Seat 7 gets K 3 4
Dealer gets A X X

Had seat 7 not have told the dealer to wait, then seat 7 would have gotten the 3-of-a-kind bonus that pays 30:1 and the 4-of-a-kind six card bonus which pays 100:1 for a total of $13k.

To add insult into injury, seat 6 was only betting $5 and didn't like to play the 6-card bonus so he only made $150 for the 3-of-a-kind and nothing for the 6 card bonus. Meanwhile, seat 7 is stuck $4k in the game and loses that hand to the dealer's A X X hand

seat 6 thanks seat 7 and then seat 6 immediately racks up and leaves...

I don't play 3 card poker but do they deal 3 cards consecutively to each player? Or do they deal each player one card at a time? If it's the latter then he wouldn't have had the same cards.

Deal 3 at a time to each player.

I would have drove my car off a bridge.

Saw a dude on the end of the table betting a couple of hands (decent size bets w/bonus bets) in a row then he decided not to bet and because of that the dealer got his next hand...a mini royal...oops
