Already posted in in Psychology but it got 12 views in like 3 hours so I'm posting it here. Anyone ever tried it/played poker on it?

somewhat old but still decent article on modafinil by Paul Philips (yeah, yeah, I know, he's no Haralabous)...there is no generic form available which makes it expensive ($15/dose) than other prescription cognative enhancers..would be intersted in hearing from anybody who takes it since I have prescription on file at my pharmacy but never filled it because of the cost

I already ordered some;

http://www.unitedpharmacies.co.uk/Mo...ets_p_759.html

decided to go with the more expensive modavigil than modalert.

100mg should keep me going for a day, so under £2 a day seems pretty awesome.

I had never heard of it before. I read the first few paragraphs, then while skimming the rest I spotted this quote on the side

Quote:
“She stayed awake for sixty hours, sleeping for just four. She ended up fainting from exhaustion and woke up blind”
So I think I'll stick with my regular sleep . It's not as if I have any major reason to stay awake/ be more focused anyway.

used it for 2 months before was great for me.

heard basically all the research was funded by the same company that owns the product. so this can be biased as hell! Sounds to good to be true. EG. they say no side effects basically except for the normal things any other drug might have.

I bought some in Mexico a few years ago. It was like 3 dollars a pill. I took it for a month I think and really liked it.

its not like adderall. Its not "speedy". In fact, I don't remember feeling too much different at all. Its like you are at your best mentally for long periods of time without getting tired. Its more what you don't feel.

My friend has narcolepsy and as such has perscriptions for nearly unlimited modafinil and dextroamphetamines. I've tried both whilst playing live poker and here are my experiences:

Modafinil:
Keeps you awake, surpresses appetite (similar to caffeine, but without the buzz/shaking at high doses). Doesn't really effect your game but stops you from making fatigue-based mistakes.

Dex:
You feel like a god. You fear nothing. Will often be more playful/talkative at the table. Only tried once and can't say it really affected my game that much. Surprisingly it actually helped me stay more consistant (due to increased focus) i.e. - Betting the same way every time, staring at the same point, general good live-mannerisms.

Conclusion: Mod's are good as they seem to have no possible negative effects whilst playing, I find that even when they stop having a noticable effect they do degrade your sleep quality. More psuedo-research needed!
