First things first, ask for a tower room. MLife platinum and gold get them for free when booking a pyramid room (which is cheaper). The Tower rooms are far superior than stay in the pyramid unless you're staying in a Lux suite on the 27+ floors. If you aren't gold or Plat then a simple $10 tip will get you the upgrade no problem - hell depending on occupancy you can get it just by asking nicely.
The wifi they've finally installed is really good and I've gotten great connections in my room and on the casino floor on my iPhone and MacBook and a PC. The gym is really solid and has everything you need+ some. The pool is underrated and often has quite a bit of talent on the drink staff and laying out around the pool and on the center pieces in the pool.
The poker room is soft, just straight up soft. The locals are terrible and love to mix it up and the convention crowd after a couple drinks can loosen up nicely. 1/2 there can play like 2/5 or 5/10 late at night.
The food is also solid. The steakhouse and Rice, the asian place are great. The 24 hour deli next to Criss Angel's/Blue Man Group's theater is really solid and has a good variety of stuff.
One thing of note that I hate about luxor - the VP machines are some of the tightest I've ever played - I've dropped some solid coin in their machines with only 2 or 3 quads hit in over a year. Whereas I hit quads at Aria regularly as well as The Linq, PH and Flamingo and am about to hit my 1 year anniversary of my Royal Flush at Sports Bar @ Aria.
Hope that helps, oh BTW love the beds at Luxor in the tower, they are quite soft and the bathrooms are good with solid toilets and great water pressure in the sink and shower.
If you smoke the kind, throw a towel under the door and rip the bong to your hearts content, no one will bother you and I've never gotten a smoking cleaning charge for the room.
