So having recently gone broke and fiddling around trying to build a 4 figure bankroll mtt grinding I once again found myself depositing $10 to start over.

I quickly made $100 cashing in 2 mtts and it was clear pokerstars were now gunning for me and wanted me dead. how dare I make a min deposit and cash $100 against the run of play waiting out rigset hands to climb the pay ladder as I knew they were gunning for me.

So as expected I start having a sick run of horrific variance Losing to 3 outers over and over for abnormal amounts of games...
Im now down to $50.00 after bubbling a sick amount of times whilest playing decent and having dominant cards losing to KA v K8 several times, holding AQ on the flop top pair getting called all in by third pairs for them to hit 2 pair of the turn - and they called me with such certainty that they would donk out with 97 or 78 even though they are behind.


To cut a long story short I find myself playing the Big 27.50 (50k) on PS.
I've been playing superbly im up to third place from 7,230 is runners were 2h 30m in and im stacking 32k around 65/70BB about 2800 runners left...

so next thing you know I get moved tables only to find I have the chip leader sitting directly 2 spaces to my right. (this is like over a 1 in 280 chance) given there are 283 tables running...
At this point I say to myself.. Fk!!! I knew It!!! I knew pokerstars would do this now im going to get pocket kings and big stack is going to call me all in with like 89 and river me....

CAN YOU GUESS WHAT HAPPENS!!!
I pick up pocket kings and Im facing a raise and a re-raise to my right, I figure If I flat call the 3-bet big stack is folding as he has a wide range and raise folding all kinds of trash.

The flop comes 788 big stack raises 1/4 pot and the other guy is all in for around 12BB . I re-raise pot and get called ?
a Jack comes given us a board - 7-8-8-J . Big stack raise a bet of around pot and I put him all in for around an extra 7k in chips...

River comes a 9 given the Big stack a straight and ending my tournament... He shows Q10 off suit

I find myself jokerstarred and its always the same when playing for big money, whether its a 300 buy in 18 man or a 100k $30 buy in.

You dont get the cards when it matters and if you do someone somehow calls with now valid explanation of why you would call a flop with 3 outs and clearly behind ETC.

I MEAN WHAT THE ACTUAL **** IS GOING ON IN MY LIFE??

I really am starting to feel a little bit powerless as to getting a big 4 figure cash online...
It is easy to run well for pennie.
but as soon as were playing for big money variance favours the big spenders and the donks.

Yea I was shot taking. I was aware losing would mean I have to reload or drop down to micro games.

Was all in by the turn. I Figured He probably had top pair or a draw and given how aggressive he was playing I had to take that chance I would of been 2 to 1 / 3 to 1 chip leader over the rest of the field at a crucial stage of game

If this is legit you have been found guilty of clasic fancy play syndrome with your KK and paid the ultimate penalty. When Donkey McDonkerson sees you call that 3bet do you not realize he immediately thinks "OMG I totally have pot odds!!!"?

Regarding the probability of playing with chip leader; this is conditional on your position right? So that being 3rd gives a high prob of getting on the same table as him/her. Is this correct? I dont play mtts

Regarding being on the same table I dont think its conditional I could of been put on any one table of 283 and then ending up being dealt a premium pair KK/AA which would come around on average once in every 220 hands, combined with the chances of this guy putting his whol stack in..
its incredibly slim.

this is something that happens all too often when big money is involved. We can argue given the mtt its bound to happen, But even in smaller fields it is the same story.

I definately think bankroll management reflects more than just variance. I would not be surprised if someone who contributes mass FPPs Fares better against a small FPP contributor When the small FPP contributor tries his luck in a high stakes game or a big tournament.

in any one game tournament . they will get the better of the cards via variance
