Fish and Heidnik are must owns. I don't think I have one specifically on the Zodiac case, but I've read a ton on it from other sources.

Some of the best ones I've read so far include:

Killer Clown (John Wayne Gacy)
Shrine of Jeffrey Dahmer
Cellar of Horror (Heidnik)
Helter Skelter (Manson murders)

For broader books that detail several murder/serial murder cases, I like several of the ones by former FBI profilers, including Douglas and Ressler, although you have to get over Douglas's love of himself. His first few books are much more bearable that his more recent ones (Mind Hunter is a classic).

Me in my Army days (I no longer wear glasses or keep my hair this short):

Me much more recently with my boyfriend and nephew:

In B4 donotwant.gif. Confirmed ginger. Rugs matches the curtains and all that jazz.

Incidentally, the first time I ever got asked that question was by another female, and I was completely clueless as to what she meant.

In any event, the latter is the most recent photo that has ever gone up on 2p2.

He used to dress up as a clown for charity work or something. Otherwise he's just a standard serial killer. He didn't kill dressed up as a clown.

Plus he was executed already, so you're pretty safe.

Somewhere floating around on the interwebs there is a pic of me in full battle rattle with my rifle competing in some soldier competition, but to me I still look like a goof rather than scary.

I've read some Ressler / Douglas books and Helter Skelter. Gonna probably pick up the Heidnik book now that I know it's out.

You have to read Zodiac by Robert Graysmith. It's a gripping, detailed account of the case (although the veracity of some parts have been slammed by Zodiac killer aficionados).

Invisible Darkness is intense and filled with many wtf moments.

I'll look into those.

I prefer books written by someone involved with the case (prosecutor, cop, etc.) than ones written by randoms.

Fascinating stuff, though, either way.

Graysmith was working (as a cartoonist) for the S.F. Chronicle as the Zodiac was on the loose. He was there when Zodiac sent them letters. He also pursued the case after (often ubelievably incompetent) police forces gave up. Graysmith is definitely not a random in this case.

The author of Invisible Darkness wasn't involved, but it's still a good read and has, afaik, the facts straight.

Cool.

And look into Killer Clown if you haven't read it already. Very well written and extremely detailed look at the Gacy case.
