Are you really that stupid or..?
It isnt healthy at all but if u do it once it doesnt care. U made a year wage of someone in Africa within 24 hours so whats the deal? If ur planning to this multiple times a week i suggest to take more breaks, eat healty, do some exercises and call masseuse.
I can't think of anything worse, it makes the sandy hook school shooting seem hilarious in comparison.
3) Is this unhealthy?
You fat **** - finish eating those cheetos.
4) Does this mean that I'm addicted somehow or some kind of a "gambling degenerate"?
Not only that, but you probably masturbate and enjoy violent movies and video games.
5) I feel that it was a great learning experience, especially since I was playing with better players than me and I learned a ton from them and how they think and operate (I actually took notes during breaks!).
Im sure those notes greatly helped your play and you now have further delved into the creative and cunning mind of a live 1/2 player.
6) Amazingly my performance as the hours went by did not go down! - it actually went up and I played considerably better as time went by - often using advice from better players. I kind of became one with the game if that makes sense. (I did drink coffee periodically).
Seems about right, as once you hit 16 hours of live poker playing, your A game actually ascends to a higher level, S game. Using the advice of better players in your 1/2 game and putting in the right hours (16+) you can achieve an S game for up to 30 hours! (consult your doctor if S game persists for over 72 hours as you may have long term penis damage.
7) It felt like a total immersion experience.
I'm starting to see a trend of statements and less actual questions, but regardless lets move on to 8.
8) I think long hours like this go a long way to making the mechanics of live game second nature.
I think Phil Ivey said that somewhere in one of his online training videos.
9) It desensitized me to the ebb and flow up and down swings. More decisions become more automatic.
Thats the S game im talking about, in action!
9) I'm not planning to do this every session. My regular session is about 8 hours.
Holy **** thank god, we were worried. Also 9 doesnt come after 9, look into that.
10(11?)) It reaffirmed there's nothing else in life I'd rather be doing. But I don't want this to be unhealthy or addicting in any way. That's why I posted this thread to just do kind of a check in with you guys. I want to be responsible and professional about this.
Good thing you went to BBV, where professionalism and responsibility are found in spades.
I play 10-12 hour sessions regularly and have deff put in some 18-24 hour sessions here n there. But I am a addicted to poker. N a winning player thank God
how many adderals did you take? Looks like you were still going strong when writing OP. 19 hr. session? over/under: 3-4 extended releasers? How much did you lose?
Well I tried to post this in Beginners Questions and actually got a few helpful replies as you can see but a mod closed it and I was basically given a choice of having it in BBV or not on the forum at all. I figured I might get 1% of serious replies in BBV and a few guaranteed laughs.
BTW, I recently ran into a guy who played live for 32 hours straight. I played with the guy and then met him the next day and recognized him, the mfer told me he never left - I was shocked and he said "look, same clothing!" So I guess there are people there pulling crazier * than 19 hrs. Phil Laak's record is 111 hours or something.
tons of 2p2ers do 24+ hrs sessions regularly. I know people who have put in 60 hr sessions. I personally pretty much never do longer than 10-12 unless a game is amazing, but 19 hrs isn't that unusual.
Congrats on a good day check out some of the poker tracker apps for Iphone or
google search. This will keep track of your bankroll and hourly rate over time. Also you can write Notes on how you feel for every session. give it a look may help.
