I just got 2 outted for a 1400$ pot in a 1/2 game. Guy goes all in for 700 with 99 and I have AA am I supposed to fold here? did he have a read on my seat that it was unlucky? What would would anyone else do? If they look down at aces and are facing all in call preflop with the other chip leader at the table everyone else has 100-300 avg 150?
Thank you for taking the time to reply with your sound advice and wisdom. The online community is truly unparalleled in it's peer support and kinship, god bless you sir. You really made a difference.
All I can tell you is this: Now that I've had deep introspection on the philosophies and strategies of 1/2 and the way my night went. First off since I started playing professionally in August I've had around only 5 1000$+ Pots. All of them I was a favorite, and all of them I lost. These players never stuck around because their style caused them to win while on heaters but lose every other time. I've confidently concluded that this guy was drinking and did not have a read that my seat was unlucky as someone who plays everyday might be able to glean. He simply made a terrible play and just got lucky. I place the full burden on myself for calling with aces. I didn't need to make a risk for my entire stack preflop. I have the skills to beat a player of his caliber without shoving pre. That was his only chance of beating me. So from now on yes I will fold aces pre-flop in the future. Opting to outplay people on the streets. It is the final lesson I have had to learn in my journey to winning every single day and supporting myself through this beatable game. Sure it really hurt.. Why do humans feel emotions? Why does a fighter jet produce sound even though it has bearing on propulsion. I believe emotions are pollution leftover from other subconscious thought processes. So most pain and suffering is simply a by product of the imperfect design of the mind. So yea, sorry I'm not an emotionless robot who doesn't get upset after a bad beat.
Did you really lose with AA ? Wow OP that's unheard of. How in heck does anyone make money at poker when people are whiling to punt 700 BB as a 4 to 1 underdog??
People just don't ****ing get it! You CANNOT and WILL NOT make a ****ing LIVING out of poker! It's a zero sum game minus the rake minus the living expenses, all sources from disposable after tax dollars. In order for your not-whiling-to-work lazy azz to earn $20K in one year (assuming that's $40K before rake), someone, before rake, has to lose $60,000 of disposable after-tax earnings. Which means someone has to be making just over 100k (something that requires a college degree and years of training + experience), save every penny (not eat, pay rent, fuel, etc., have no hobbies besides poker) and lose EVERYTHING. Then you would have $20,000 to live off of for one year, I'm assuming you'd be evading taxes too huh.
More seriously, someone like me who likes to gamble and get it in with an obviously bad hand just to get action will be extremely reluctant to give action to someone who openly talks about "playing poker for a living". To me he is a "black hole" of a player (one level below a nit). A grinder, a pro, someone who sees stuff that I probably don't and makes every action with a purpose. I would be more whiling to punt $500 on 65 suited or a hand of blackjack than to give $20 worth of action to someone who tries to earn a living from poker. I know how hard I worked from my money. I know how much taxes get taken out every pay. And it stings. And to think that a lazy bum probably plays with my tax dollars through the welfare system. Gross.

Be intelligent with discipline and full control of your emotions. With the proper bankroll. Easy game. Most people just dont have all 4.

bad beats happen from time to time and losing is part of the game. How you let it affect you separates the best players from the rest of the pack.
1/2 is one of the easiest games to beat. You got a guy to put 350bb in with 19% equity. You can't really ask for a better spot. If you are unhappy with the result you should of cashed out - as it seems $700 is a lot of money to you or you wouldn't of made this post.

If you are folding AA pre, I assume you are folding everything pre and therefore will fold every hand for the rest of your life to a shove. Now that is a good strategy!

Only when I'm deep stacked. Not worth risking an entire day's profit on one hand. It's simply exercising prudence with my earnings.

Yes I raised 6.5 bb's it was 1/3 so about 20$ on a table with short stacks someone with 25bb's called then he snap shoved. And no it's not about the money it's the principle. No one here would enjoy that happening.

Folding every hand strategy only loses 16.66bb/100 in 9-max game. No swings. OP just lost 35000bb/100 in that one hand. Time to think about your strategy OP
