I have played poker full time for the last two and a half years. ATM I just logged out of pkr.com after losing for the 12th day in a row (don't know if it's exactly twelve days but it's a long time anyway). A few weeks ago I had my second worst downswing so I have had a rough month, to say the least.

Today I smashed a chair and kicked a garbage bin but I'm sure there are better ways to deal with tilting?

I was playing nl400 but have dropped down to nl200 but I just can't avoid getting sucked out on and missing big draws, time after time. It's bad enough when you lose a big pot but when you lose a big pot and get laughed at by animated fish on pkr.com it's even worse. I feel dead inside and everything seems pointless.

I'm a sober alcoholic (or whatever it's called) so I can't just get f*cked up for a few days to forget about my misery. Do you guys have any suggestions on what to do instead?

Playing poker for a living creates misery even for the winners. It makes people into sub-humans imo. With that being said, I still have a hard time walking away from the game because it is addicting. I'm a winner but my win rate is down quite a bit post UGIEA and I tilt easier now as well. I found that stepping away from the game for a week or two and keeping your life balanced is by far the best thing you can do for yourself.

Take a step back and a break away from the game.

Don't sit down with this expectation of getting sucked out or missing your draws. Stay away until your mind is refreshed.

Playing poker for a living is stressful and at times becomes more of a constant grind than a hobby you find fun in playing. Find other things in your life that make you happy along with poker.

Take a few days break and put loads of hands in.


The longer your session and more tables you play, the less you tilt.

Take a few days off, and do absolutely nothing involving poker

doing anything while mad makes u considerable worse. rage is blinding. it takes a while , not a couple hours, but couple days, before i return to normal.

also consider what money really is to you. Basically i have everything i need, (ie food , rent , etc ).. everything else is bonus. when i lose a couple hundred, im always like what would i have spent that on anyways? nothing really. what is 400.. or 4000 dollars in the longrun..nothing. u could die tomorrow or even today. so what if ur broke

The competition there is just so soft and unpredictable, that site is the perfect recipe for tilt. Play somewhere else for a while.
