In for 400 out for 3075. Absolutely slayed this donk at our table at 1/3 this morning at MGMNH. I get there at 6:30 AM bc I couldn’t sleep last night and there’s this guy there that was absolutely hammered already. There were a few people encouraging it and getting a drink or two themselves and I even offered to buy him shots. He was up to about 3-4k when I sat down but very quickly 3-4 people doubled through him. Apparently he was shoving with 8 high and sucking out on people for huge pots. Not me though. I realized quickly that all the chips would get in the middle regardless so I want to see some flops. No sense in risking it all pre if we’re gonna be getting stacks in by the river anyway. I caught him for hundreds over the course of several hands and I watched him max rebuy for 500 five, six, maybe seven times? He kept running to the ATM. The 1/3 game was playing like 5-10 with 35-45$ opens and frequent 3 bets. We basically played 1/3/6 bc everybody was straddling. He probably had "**** you" level Saudi Arab money so I'm not too stressed about it because he won't even miss it.
Best part was trapping his ass with Jacks. About 5-600 effective. He raised to 35 or 45 in MP. It folded to me in the SB and I bumped it to 150. Everybody else folds. Donk calls. Flop comes 10 high board. Club draw out there. I check it. And he actually checked it. The turn brings a rag and I lead out for about 125-150 OOP. He called. River was an off suit 10 and I check it because he's found the fold button in the past and I wanted all his chips. He moves in his remaining stack and I tank call. He rolled over 8/3 off suit. lol 🤣 Incredulous looks from everybody at the table.
People just didn’t get it. Don’t bluff this guy. Wait for your spots. Get it in good. Don’t gamble when he’s tossing chips in every street. By the end there was this girl at the table who must have been down 7-800$ because she couldn’t figure it out. Meanwhile I’m way up now after being down a bunch of BI’s in the last few months. This came on the back of a 1k win last week.
TLDR: Patience is a virtue.
