To hell with gamblers anonymous - where can we get decent grief councilling...I need it.

I just started playing on-line about 6 months ago (new to this forum too), joined WPT, pretty much sticking to NL Holdem. Over a few months managed to get a little bank roll going $400 or so off the back of lowstakes cash games and SNGs (yeah I know I'm no pro).

Of course I got outdrawn and suffered plenty of beats but the pots weren't massive and I was comforting myself that I was playing a long game, each hand a hundred times - all the crap you read in the poker books.... real big of me. They never felt like real beats basically.

Anyway just before Xmas I found myself with some time on my hands in an evening and had a bit of a rush of blood - thought i'd see how I faired a bit higher up - so leapfrogged to a 6 handed NLH 3$ \ 5$ cash game.

Started 21:30 or so, by 01:00 after playing some real nice poker I ticked over the $1000 mark! Damn I'm gonna turn professional I thought. I'll hand in my notice tomorrow.

Anyway...best to pack it in I thought - cut and run, and I just missed hitting the "Leave Game" button as a new hand started to be dealt....you guessed it...I swear.....I got....AA

Every day since then I thought... should I have just walked away....I can bearly bring myself to type here..

Anyway cut a long story short, 100% preflop I thought, you can't let that pass. So I played it down the line - no slow playing I thought...

Good sized raise pre flop
Two callers only
Flop came A K 5 (mixed suits) SET SET SET (I'm dancing round the room)
I Stuck in a pot sized bet,
One fold and then the last guy re-raised me.
Took a look and thought - good god he's hit KKK - maybe I'm a newb but that's all I could put him on.
What the hell, I came over the top - all in.
He calls - $2400 approx in the pot
He shows down Q 6 offsuit!!!!!! WTF
"Whooohooo" I've just made the best part of $2000 in four hours...........
Then I watch as....
The turn is a J,
The river is a 10,

He might as well have walked into my room and stuck a knife in me. I began to feel an intense burning sensation, like my skin was on-fire and as the chat window confirmed he'd pulled the straight, I began to dismantle my study, accompanied by some screaming and shouting.

Eventually I snagged the power cable as I was breaking up the place and the PC crashed.

This is a lengthy post - a window onto a private hell that has kept me off-line until the last week or so. I didn't even get a note on the sucker who f**ked me.

So I think that was my first real beat. Damn it hurts. Does it get any easier?

It's a great story storm. I've never had a beat that bad but I felt the highs and lows as I read it.

I thought this story might be real, until he said

"Took a look and thought - good god he's hit KKK - maybe I'm a newb but that's all I could put him on. What the hell, I came over the top - all in."

Yeah, let's risk it...

Definitely could beat that story, other night flopped top set of queens, guy shoves over me with a low pocket pair. No way to draw a straight or flush. The turn makes him a set, the river gives him quads. I didn't act anywhere near as bad as you did. I just finished my coffee and went to get a shower. The stakes were a little bit smaller than yours. You reacted so badly just because playing with your whole roll is not exactly the smartest br management. If you only had 5-10% of your roll out there, the beat would still suck, but you wouldn't get emo after it cause you know you had him crushed. Don't say you know what proper bank roll management is and you were just playing around. These bad beats are the exact ****ing reason for br managment.

It was the poker gods punishing you for playing over your head. Sounds like a fake story to me anyway... NOBODY raises then calls a push with Q6o

I don't know if this is a level (judging from the KKK part, maybe), but that sucks. Playing with your whole roll on the table sucks almost as much, so I dunno what I should be feeling right now. Sympathy or joy? Meh, hard to deside. Just remember you were a 98% favourite when the money went in, and despite the outcome you made money.
