Ran into a string of felted sessions recently and trying to see if it's variance or me? Hand background ($1/$2 NLH, $200 max buy-in):

9 handed. I'm MP with QQ (~$80 behind after other beats I'll detail below), MP (~$100) raises to $8, folds to me, I raise to $25, folds to MP who hesitates but calls. Flop 4 K 8. MP hollywood checks, I think of shoving but instead bet $20, he shoves and I call. He shows set of 4's, I don't improve and am felted.

Earlier same session. 9 handed. I'm HJ with AA ($190 behind). Limps to me I raise to $15, SB calls (~$60 behind). Flop J 10 4 rainbow. SB shoves, I call - he shows J 10, I don't improve.

Same session. 9 handed. I'm CO with KK ($120 behind). Limps to me, I raise to $14. SB and MP call. Flop 6 8 9 rainbow. SB bets $20, MP folds, I call. Turn Q, SB bets $25, I call. River 2, SB bets $30, I call. He shows 7 10 off. SB did not display a loose range before or after that hand.

Same session. 9 handed. I'm MP with 10's ($~140 behind). SB ($60 stack) raises to $10, folds to me I raise to $30. Folds to SB who shoves for remaining $50 ($30 extra to me), I call. He shows KK, I don't improve.

1.5hr session, lost with AA, KK, QQ, 10's, and a couple of other solid hands like KQs at showdown after bad runouts and decent pressure betting. Picked my spots reasonably above, yet tried not to be nitty. I did not rebuy. I'd consider myself a tight player (nitty when down yet a bit splashier when up big). Have a friend out of state that crushes $1/$2, somehow averages $400-$700 profits most sessions. He's a LAG, so it's interesting that he's able to consistently upswing. I'd like to work on becoming more of a TAG, yet at $1/$2 not sure how much that's worth. Although I'm decently comfortable with intermediate+ NLH strategies, I don't have the bankroll for $2/$5. My plan was to build to it in $1/$2 yet this takes me to my initial question - is the above usual variance, or am I just trash? I end up losing hands/pots like these and am somewhat forced to go into survival mode, or add on which I'm not a fan of. Couple months ago I started a session with JJ first and second hand, tripled up. Then hit AA against AQs for double up. Due to the gain, I was able to play more relaxed and it reminded me what poker can be. Past handful have been brutal though.

Hand one was terrible because you lose to any king. Your raises and reraises need to be much larger. Two years ago i 3! to only 30 which didn't work at all. Try 45 or 50 and you'll take out the garbage hands. Bunch of limpers? Make it 20.

Thanks for responding with some feedback Chicagodude. Going to be increasing my bet and raise sizes and see how it takes. Andrew Neeme's crew calls him the silent assassin, which is a method I need to grow out of as his results and my results are drastically different. I usually prefer to be very under-the-radar and then capitalize on high-value hands, yet my table image then clips to a nit and affects value.

Sometimes, calling a nitty players raise with a couple of small cards can pay off big time. If your "nittieness" is allowing your competition to always put you on big cards, big pairs , they make take a shot.

Every single hand u are either behind preflop or on the flop. Learn how to fold and stop overplaying aces.

OP - You're being trolled but don't know enough about poker to realize it. Otoh, some of the comments may just be genuinely ignorant.
